IMAP Proxy- Courier vs. up-imapproxy vs. other?

Looking to set up an IMAP proxy and wondering whether anyone has any experiences they might care to share? This will be running on a Linux VPS (CentOS 5, specifically). What proxy did you use, how difficult was it to configure, and did you try any other proxy solutions? We may be looking to outsource this project if someone has relevant experience and it turns out to be too big of a headache. Thanks in advance for your reply. -Matt

nginx can do reverse proxy for IMAP as well. I have no experience proxying IMAP connections, but I proxy HTTP connections and they are extremely fast. nginx is also very light on resources. Might be another piece of software you want to consider.

Adam, thank you for the recommendation. Nginx is something I ran across recently and upon further investigation based upon your response, it seems to have very good documentation, which is a sore point with many of the IMAP proxying solutions. Thanks again! -Matt
