Upgrading to mysql 5 is a one-time convertion thing in terms of data, if you didnt make a backup before is not an easy one except that you still have not databases. Is that is the case you can change the parametre "mysql-version" of these files /usr/local/cpanel/etc/cpanel.config /var/cpanel/cpanel.config And then run: /scripts/mysqlup -- force from console. I recommend doing a back up of the entire /var/lib/mysql before playing with mysql upgrades. Regards

My suggestion would be to leave it as it is. Most companies will no longer give support to MySQL4 in the near future, and will get outdated. Seeing as you would potentially lose data in the downgrade, you'd be better of staying with MySQL5, unless it creates massive issues for your sites.

No need to edit the file /usr/local/cpanel/etc/cpanel.config. Only the other file is checked while upgrades and tweak settings. To make it mysql 4.0 add the following line. mysql-version=4
