Is there any free firewalls available for cent OS ?

Are there any free Fire walls available for CentOS 32 bit ? I heard APF Firewall . Is that APF Firewall free ? Is that APF Firewall has enough security ? Is that slow down my server? (p4 -D 3GHz / 1GB Ram) Could you please advise. Thank You.

Iptables are already inside the OS. APF together with BFD are free. I don't think it will slow down the server. Been using the combination for a long time without any issues. Hard to answer if they are of enough security. A firewall helps, but regular updates and monitoring is still the key.

You can try CSF as well: http://www.configserver.com/cp/csf.html

You can try to use shorewall I use it a lot and it's nice... note that shorewall is a "absraction layer" on iptables... so you use iptables... but with a easier configuration etc etc...

My recommendation would be CSF + mod_sec.

you have to keep a keen eye on logs, and user activities, there's no 100% fail proof methods, exploits do come in light on most free applications, so make sure users run the patched/updated versions for their applications.

CSF is about the easiest, most user friendly firewall you'll get your hands on, and yes, it is reasonably good. APF and LFD can require a bit of technical knowledge and understanding

2 thumbs up for CSF, particularly on WHM boxes... Good luck, Joe
