Server does not boot new kernel...why ?

Hi, on a RHE 3 system I installed a new Kernel. I did update lilo.conf and grub.conf but they are still booting an old kernel: 2.4.21-27.ELsmp. Please have a look at my files below and if you have any idea why please let me know. lilo.conf: grub.conf:

Is your server configured to boot with LILO or GRUB? (Only one bootloader can be active at one time.) If your box is using GRUB, then editing grub.conf should be the only thing that needs to be done. If your server is booting LILO, then you must run "lilo" after you edit lilo.conf before the kernel change takes effect.

RHEL3 uses lilo, not grub Did you run lilo after editing the configuration ? To do so, just type lilo in the command line, that should do it for you. Grub doesn't have to be run, because it's cool like that. Lilo must manually be run after every edit that you want to affect the server. Simply type lilo in ssh and you should be good to go, UNLESS it shows some errors

BTW: rhel3 is kind of old and smelly. You might want to consider upgrading server/hardware. Not that you're going to be too vulnerable, but you might get better performance.
