Using a VPS to provide internet access via ADSL line?

This might win me the "stupidest idea 2008" award but I was wondering.. I have an active ADSL line at home but I don't have an active account at an ISP.. Could I somehow get Internet access through my VPS (for a week or so, till my new ISP activates my account)? I'm so desperate..

How would you connect to your VPS if you don't have internet access already?

How do you plan on reaching your Internet-connected VPS over the ADSL line that doesn't have access to the Internet?

You need to co locate yourself in a data center, ask price for a bigger rack :-)

Best reply ever! Anyway, my new connection will be set up by Monday so I'll be fine. PS: I tried to set up a pppoe server on the vps.. I failed, of course.

For ADSL you need to authenticate against a central BT Radius server. I know for a fact we don't have anything with BT so nope its not going to work

It wouldn't work because as the others said you would have to get an internet connection to connect to your server and you won't get a connection to the server without signing onto an ISP. Just because DSL is active on your line doesn't mean anything just means the DSLAM is kicking out an ADSL signal, without an account on the RAS you won't get anywhere.. you could whip out the old 56k modem and dial 08456653000 and login with uk2/uk2 it should be charged to your phonebill at localrate http://adial.co.uk/ That's what I used to do when I needed to get online and couldn't use broadband.
