[cPanel] Default Address issue

Posted by Morphix, 01-09-2008, 04:25 PM
Hello everyone, I'll make it as simple as possible -- I want to remove via SSH all mail allocated to the default address (catch all). I cannot remove it via webmail or mail client since there are over 50,000 emails. Thanks in advance P.S. It's a cPanel based system.

Do you run the latest cpanel with maildir format mail directory ? if yes, you need to cd to the mail folder of the cpanel user, and delete the files in cur and new folders(assuming you want everything in this mailbox deleted). For mbox format it will be a single file "inbox" in this folder. Please be sure about what you are deleting; else you will end up deleting someone else emails or needed files

To be on safer side backup the account before working on it

It will be requiring some basic scripting. As mentioned just change to the users directory and empty the inbox file or remove the directories to clear it out. you may also want to set the default catchall setting to "fail" from the cpanel to avoid issues in the future.
