My website is slow in china

Posted by gyro, 03-14-2008, 03:21 AM
Hi gurus, My customers are complaining that my web site is extremely slow in China. But I have never received any complain from outside China (I have talked to non-China users). What could be the reason behind this? Or how can I find the root cause?

Is your site currently hosting in the US? mainland China has very bad speed to the US, because of the crappy providers and GFW. If you want good speed to the US and to China you might want to consider hosting in HK.

My server is hosted in New York, US. What about hosting in UK? or anyother region of the world? Is HK only option to host? Any other option instead of moving host?

NY in east coast. You might want to find out someone has BTNAccess or NTT/Verio connections, and offering services in west coast of the US

Did you analyze the traceroute result to your server from any of the user in china? You can also contact your DC with the traceroute result to get a clear picture and thus make sure the issue is not at the DC end.

I have analyzed traceroute from 2 different users and found no issue with that

The reason might be from server to your customers? Have you tried to traceroute from your server to your customer IP?

Traceroute output to the customer's IP address. I did not see 'traceroute complete' message. 218.1.2.130 is not the customer's IP. 18 is the last hop i received.

more options are Singapore, Japan, Korea. UK is even more slower to China since China doesn't have any ISP peering with UK ISPs.

I am not interested to move the hosting.
