raid disk partition error
Posted by gate2vn, 03-16-2008, 12:42 AM |
I have a disk in raid, but it seems raid is not working correctly. I took it out, and plug into another server without raid. However, fdisk shows error
Should I correct the partition table now, or should I put it in another raid for checking?

Putting a RAID disk in a non-RAID system will always show errors in FDISK because there is no standard partition table (just the RAID formatting). Trying to use FDISK to fix the drive will only force you to have to re-initialize the drive in your original RAID box and rebuild the RAID array. Also, the cylinder counts being off does not always indicate a problem, and wouldn't matter anyway since the drive is in a RAID array. What error are you getting in the original system that indicates that the RAID is not working properly?

That's what I am thinking. Anyway, it's ended up with a failed disk. Took it out of array, system is working again.
