cannot view security tab in folders

I have a weird problem in one of the servers. In a couple of folders, I cannot see the security tab and I am not able to access or delete them. Their Parent folder, however, has the security tab and necessary permissions. Any idea how can I get rid of these folders?

Well, normally you would go to security and go to advanced then go to Owner and "Take Ownership" Buuuuuut.... Really don't know what you should do in this instance.

In the parent folder, change the owner to someone else, and apply it to all children. Then change the owner back to yourself, and apply it to all children. This is assuming, of course, that the children folders (the ones where you cannot see the security tab) are not remote shares, or links of some sort! Shoot me a PM if you need further assistance.

I tried as per your instruction, but I get access denied error when the permissions are being applied to the child folder. Is there any other solution or a tool to remove the problem folders?

If you're using an administrator account, the changes should go into effect regardless if you get an access denied error. If the server you're working on is in a domain, make sure you're a domain admin (yes, common sense, but I had to say it!). I am using an administrator account and the server is not in a domain. It is a stand alone server.
