Help - I need Reseller Account Suggestions!

Posted by revdave, 07-18-2002, 10:52 AM
Hi Folks, I just found this forum - Looks great. The ISP I have been with just shut down THIS MORING (with almost no notice -yikes!) - I need to find a good reseller host account to host less than 50 domains (for now). I'd like to find someone with unlimited domains - or at least a bunch and hopefully MS Access and Cold Fusion if possible but not manditory. Does anyone have any experience with Shanje.com? I was with them a few years ago - but would be interested in any RECENT reviews - especially UPTIME. I am browsing through this forum for info but I sure could use some input ASAP. Thanks in advance, RevDave

I would reccommend Cyberwings Communications. The service is incredibly inexpensive, and 99.9% downtime is guaranteed. Additionally, to ease any concerns you may have felt- the CEO, Shawn White, has released the following statement: >> The following postings are false: The GOLDEN FLEECE Posting in the newsgroups and ANY newsgroup postings from me - I have not been near a newsgroup in a LONG LONG TIME. << The new DC being built is amazing! Unfortunately, due to top-secret government servers being housed there, no pictures can be released... ever. I can't tell you which host to go to, but if you're gay and friendly I just might have the roommate for you.

What? Anyways, do a search on Cyberwings...sounds like they've been nothing but H E L L. The popular ones here are MChost, Splashhost, and Voxtreme. Of course no reseller is perfect...

Re-read David's message - I'm guessing he was being sarcastic with his Cyberwings recommendation (99.9% downtime guaranteed) --Shaun

Right. Pure sarcasm. And yes, Cyberwings has proven to be pure hell.

Hi Revdave, Check out Vortech at www.vortechhosting.com They have a reseller plan with the ability to sell both Windows 2000 and Unix plans and have great customer service. You can host unlimited domains but after 40 there is a ONE TIME fee of $4 for each additional domain. Just a note, they host the reseller plans at www.matrixreseller.com Please don't confuse this with the other company with a similar name resellermatrix.com.

So I am confused on their plans... So really, on the cypher plan (plan #1) you only get 10 official, fully functional accounts? Thanks

OkGoNow: Q: So I am confused on their plans... So really, on the cypher plan (plan #1) you only get 10 official, fully functional accounts? A: Yes, that is correct. You can sell 10 control panels under the lowest price plan. Each control panel can host multiple domains within the resources that you alocate for that customer. On the top level plan you can sell 40 control panels and each additional is a one time $4 licence fee. You would need to upgrade to the next level as you add customers. There are lots of cheaper plans out there that offer real unmetered domain hosting. This companies plan only works for you if you need, good customer service, an integrated system with automated sign up, and the ability to offer both unix and windows plans.

I read that site as 10 Reseller accounts....where you give them full control panel access. Thats you get to host unlimted domains (you have full WHM/Cpanel access) you clients DO NOT they can only control their site (right?!) and then you can also resell your resller account 10 times before occuring fees everyone after that.

Hi EzSnake, Care to share the domain with us for your quote? The reseller company I was referring to was Vortechhosting.com The reason I recomended them is that revdave was looking for a company with MS Access and Cold Fusion. Vortech is using the Hsphere control panel which doesn't currently support the ability for resellers to have resellers.

Just a note as well on the Users are only a one time fee. So if you have 50 users you get 10 free so x $4 would be $160 ONE TIME FEE is the key here. After you pay for the 40 accounts there yours never pay again. So you would then be paying $35 per month for 50 total accounts with billing, tech support and all. Nothing else unless you go over space bandwidth or some thing like that.

So does that have to do w the fact H-S charges around 4$ per linux account (or somethin to that effect i read in user manual) When you say a "one time fee" how is this billed? As each client is setup or do you calculate monthly then add it to normal fee?

Posted by Vortech, 07-20-2002, 12:57 AM
Psoft Charges us, so we kind of pass that small fee on to the resellers. Lets say you have 10 Users (really 12 with us we give 2 for admin accounts ) and you add anther account that makes it 11 user there is $4 bill added to your account. Now if you remove it before your rebill date you are prorated for that month but if you keep it after that then delete it you lose that one. Thats the only down fall we have found and really no way to work around from what we can find. But still $4 one time fee to setup a new account is not bad. If that account stay with you for more 6 months it more then covers that $4..

Simple enuff to just pass on again I'm invisioning my site now "Setup fee 4.99 waived w/ 3 mnth + contracts " but i also may just decide to eat the 4$ per customer too...
