Namserver Issue

Posted by twenty, 04-04-2009, 06:23 PM
Hi all, I'm trying to troubleshoot a nameserver issue that seem to arise overnight. I have the namservers setup properly from my register to point to the box... I can ping the domain from the console of the machine, but I can't ping the domain from any other machine. When I do a nslookup it using the box as the namserver, it returns: When I try and look it up from any other nameserver it just returns a "Unknown can't find....server failed". Any ideas? Everything seems to be setup properly and should in theory work. Thanks!

What is the domain name? With this information I can help determine what the problem may be.

I'd say there are either multiple problems, or your advertised name server, ns1/ns2.certis.ca doesn't believe that your domain (t63.ca) is one it should be authoritative for and therefore sharing info with the world. Perhaps your SOA record is mangled or something else is causing this zone not to be advertised by your name server. Check the logs - it ought to complain when starting up about something in the file.
