Is CentOS 5.3 going to come out today?

I'm not sure - that is what the rumour mill is saying.

Latest news from their forums is it has synced to most mirrors and is waiting for someone to flip the switch it make it visible to the public. Given the project leads in the UK, my guess would be tomorrow.

How hard is upgrading? and should i wait and let everyone beta test 5.3 before i roll it out on production?

I think its been in beta some time. However here is a post form http://www.karan.org/blog/index.php/...or-5-3-release Couldn't you just upgrade by running yum update? Last edited by pclover; 03-31-2009 at 01:43 AM. Reason: typo

WOW finally 5.3 is just around the corner of being released !! Now I wonder how many clients will want to be upgraded, and how well cPanel will work with 5.3 Regards James

The FINAL ISOs are in some mirrors. I did a fresh install of CentOS 5.3 FINAL + HyperVM(Xen). It DOES NOT work at the moment. I do not have time to debug this, I'll let Lxlabs work it out after the official announcements. Last edited by quad3datwork; 03-31-2009 at 05:02 PM. Reason: HyperVM Xen

Same here. Testing on multiple machines now ... but hoping LXLabs resolves this soon.

Yeah just tried it on XenCenter and it cannot detect the hard drives when installing in a new xen VPS, oops!

By default if you do "yum update" it WILL upgrade from 5.2=>5.3. Now.... I did a fresh install of CentOS 5.3 + HyperVM(Xen) does not work. I have no idea if "yum update" would result in same thing. My advices is NOT doing "yum update" on productions for those of you running HyperVM for now. [EDIT] I guess you can hardcode the repo files replace "$releasever" with "5.2" to prevent the upgrade, if you wanted to. Last edited by quad3datwork; 04-01-2009 at 04:02 PM. Reason: yum

Wev'e upgraded most of our machines to CentOS 5.3 now, no problems. Mix of cPanel + Xen VPS nodes. Just be sure to update glibc first before you do a yum update, or you'll run into some mutex lock errors.
