How to point 2 domain names to same hosting account

Hi Friends, I know this question has been asked before but I tried the solutions I could find on net but not total success. So, I have a shared hosting a/c with a domain(say www.xyz.com) pointing to it .. Now I want a second domain (www.secondsite.com) to point to www.xyz.com/secondsitefolder There was this article that says to use 'ZoneEdit' http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/how-to-...ting-aaccount/ And it works but the problem is when someone types www.secondsite.com in the browser, the browser url changes to www.xyz.com/secondsitefolder Is there someway to stop tht browser url change or what's the correct way to have 2 domain names point to one shared hosting a/c. Thanks

Hello, You may need to host additional domains on your main account either as a Parked domain or Addon domain to get this resolved. Parked Domains (Aliases): A parked domain is an additional domain that points to main directory of your account. A parked domain will resolve to your primary domain name. Say your primary is abc.com and you park xyz.com In the address bar if you type xyz.com it will resolve to abc.com but in the address bar you will see xyz.com. An add on domain allows you to run a separate web site to your primary domain. When you create an add on domain, it makes a folder in your public_html folder and you upload the site content into that folder. So essentially you are running 2 separate sites, separate content, off one account. Say your primary is abc.com and you create addon domain xyz.com. The addon domain is pointed to the xyz folder under public_html In the address bar if you type xyz.com it will resolve to the content in the xyz folder and in the address bar you will see xyz.com. Kudos

Hi, I am not able to implement any solution out of the 2 you gave... 1. For parked domain, I guess both www.abc.com and www.xyz.com will contain the same content which is not what I want...I would like both sites to have different content. 2. For add-on domain option, I don't think the host (olm.net) allows that for the shared a/c. So, is there any solution software based like doing something with .htaccess that allows you to host multiple domains in the same place???

If mod_rewrite is enabled you can use it (via .htaccess) to serve different content to parked domains, but if you use this technique you may be violating your host's ToS. You'd effectively be hosting two domains on the same account and based on what you've told us they don't allow addon domains. First ask your host whether you're allowed to do this.
