Corporate Colocation Open First Green Data Center in Los Angeles

Corporate Colocation has built a "Green Data Center" in Los Angeles.

Since opening the Green Suite eight days ago, we have run 100% on free cooling.

Using hot aisle and cool aisle containment, specialized ducting, air side economizing and exhaust fans, we are currently supporting over 1500 servers without running even 1 ton of mechanical cooling.

Using specialized controls which will turn on the crac units if needed-so far they have not.

Engineers say we will save 70% on cooling costs and at least 1000tons of C02 from this suite alone.

We are building our second green suite now.

The first suite will support over 3000 servers when full. It is occupied by one of our key clients, who will be promoting it soon.

If you think I am full of hot air, we will be glad to show independent people what we have done.

It works and we are proud to demonstrate to the press or any qualified expert.

When we came up with the idea, the truth be told, people in LA were saying we were nuts.

The fact is I was not sure it would work, as it was our idea, and while it does incorporate some ideas of others, the design is unique.

We did however verify it with mechanical and electrical engineers and they assured us the idea was sound, so we went for it.

Last Sunday, we turned it on, and it worked and has not stopped.

We were very happy when we stood under the ducts and got cool air and when the data center cooled the servers with almost no power use. I had a big smile . It's nice when something cool works.

And I must admit there is some satisfaction in proving the nay sayer and haters wrong.

Here is an aritcle from web hosting review.

Kudos, very impressive. It will definately save a ton of money in the long run. Also more promising for you as a Datacentre choice for those energy efficient ones out there
