How to figure dividing the space available ...

Hello, I'm gonna go with a reseller account, mainly for my use but will also sell remaining access to friends and others I know here locally. Can you Web Host Pros give me an guesstimate of how I should probably break it down per user? Some kind of ratio maybe? Most aren't likely to have a large website presence. Say I have ... Storage = 2,000 MB (2GB) Bandwidth = 50,000 MB (50GB) Obviously, I don't want to squeeze TOO many in to cause any major bottleneck. Sheesh ... I'm not sure I am asking this question right! ThanX!! It usually depends on your expenses on say acquiring clients, purchasing scripts, any other expenses you would pay etc, and then offset the plan divide it into an amount to see how many you would have to sell to break even, then look back to see if it's manageable as you will also have to pay yourself you're not going to be doing it for free Friends and those within your local area usually require the least support then say somebody who signed up via the Internet and has some knowledge of web hosting and web sites in general (don't quote me on that - it's just my own findings in general.)

My friends required the most support...asking you questions 24/7. But most friends that I host are newbies...sadly because since I knew them I got them interested in the whole Idea then tehy signed up and want help with tons and tons of nonrelated things.

Thanks Manu for your reply. I'm not going into the "hosting biz" in general. But I figure while I'm at it, make a few spare coins. I'm just trying to figure out how to best parcel out the resources. Thanks Again! I Hear You! But these friends of mine ALREADY ask me tons of questions so I figured I might as well get some money outta them! LOL Have a GREAT week! Rick Wilson aka CorpRebel

How much of the resources do you expect to use yourself? Also - can you upgrade the package in case you need more disk space or bandwidth? Leave yourself enough room - I assume the main reason for the reseller account are your own websites?!

I'd say, for simplicity's sake, I'd leave 1/4 of the resources available for my use. The sites that I have now aren't that big but I will be adding alot of 3-5 page websites during the course of the year. No problem with being able to upgrade easily. My sites aren't that large yet. Lol, Rick. I asked a similar question here a couple of months ago and got a similar answer, or non-answer depending on how you look at it. Most domains use about only about 75mb of space. A small account of 3 to 5 pages without multi-media is mostly under 5mb. You could probably get about 30+ accounts on the specs you listed without much problem, allowing for a bit of cushion. Forums and other items can chew resourses, so there is a list of things that could skew that a bit. My 3 cents (inflation).

Thanks for the response! It helps me get an idea as I work out the details. Thanks again. Rick Wilson aka CorpRebel
