Gmail, Yahoo & Hotmail Issues

Posted by p1Wimax, 01-06-2010, 05:59 AM
I had a personal email server and had issues sending to free email provider such as gmail, yahoo & hotmail. My emails would be flagged as spam / junk with all above emails service provider. I had done steps like SPF, Reverse DNS & domain key but it only helps with hotmail but not with gmail & yahoo. Can you please guide me on overcoming this issues? Thank You

If it's hosted at home (personal?), I assume you are assigned a static IP from your ISP - is your ISP's network perhaps listed on a spam blacklist? You can use www.mxtoolbox.com to check your own IP address to see if it's perhaps listed. Are you particular that the messages don't actually look like spam?

The emails are also blacklisted based on the headers and yahoo uses a smart screen technology which blocks anything that looks suspicious.

I think quite a few spam prevention tools (including SpamAssassin) also know what IPs are allocated for home users, even if they're static blocks. I wouldn't really recommend running a full mail server from a home IP address because of this.

Try to check the maillogs they will help you to trace the problem. Also make sure that your server IP is not been blacklisted in some database.

Please check the rDNS correctly setup on your server IP.

Hello, Please check your IP in http://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx and it will give you the RBLs where your IPs are blacklisted.

First of all make sure that your personal email server IP is not blacklisted. I think Gmail and Yahoo had included your IP in Aggressive Blacklisting if these two are showing problems. >> Please check whether you had used any words like MONEY FREE, VIAGRA, MONEY CHAIN ETC that had triggered spam filters. For your doubts regarding spamming and stuff in Yahoo, this site will help you http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...use/index.html >> Another reason might be because of your MX records (mail exchanger records. If you want to check whther you are blacklisted there are so many sites that provides a check in RBLs, MX lookup and other DNS tools. Please check this, http://www.mob.net/~ted/tools/index.html >> Changing to sending out mail through your ISP's SMTP server may help you.. Meanwhile, do let me know if I can be of further assistance.
