Searching Windows Reseller package with Unmetered BANDWIDTH

Posted by SyphonHost, 07-26-2004, 05:35 AM
Hi, I searching for windows reseller package with Unmetered BANDWIDTH.... Can someone help? Thanks

I highly doubt any reliable Windows provider would offer unmetered/unlimited bandwidth

Tomas, If you find them offering unmetered on a shared box... Run Fast... You may be able to find a cheap dedicated box on perhaps a 10-MB unmetered line, but as many have posted before.. There is no unlimited..

Ah, I see you're searching to get burned. And you're also looking for help to get burned. It goes against my ethics to aid someone in getting ripped off.

Unless you're looking for a dedicated server, hosts that offer "unlimited" or "unmetered" bandwidth are hosts that you should avoid.

Well, someone COULD be offering something like that and just charging them about what it would cost for a dedicated unmetered and then putting someone else on it too.. But I'd have to agree, you're not going to find a quality shared hosting with unmetered bandwidth.

unlimited bandwidth / unlimited space just isnt possible. Someone will actually use those to their advantage which can tremendously bog down the server if its exploited. Having some kind of cap will ensure that no one will over do it and bog down a server.

He asked for Unmetered bandwidth which is a completely different thing! There was no mention of unlimited. You shouldn't confuse people JodoHost. Now, SyphonHost. You won't find a reseller plan with Unmetered bandwidth. Although if you did then it would be a REALLY bad host. As Reseller-Center said, you may be able to find a cheap dedicated server with unmetered bandwidth on a 10mb line - that way you can control the useage down it. This would be your best bet. But if it's cheap, it won't be that brilliant so for unmetered you are looking at servers in excess of $150/month if you can even find one for that.

What were you going on about? Unmetered is possible, you hould know that by know with the number of posts you have, and you quoted the original which was not confused with unlimited. Oh, forgot to say that i know servermatrix have an unmetered plan for a dedicated server, but it is $269 Monthly / $149 Setup. Now someone try and call them a really bad company. It's a 10Mbps Unmetered Bandwidth plan called MatriXtreme, but if you were looking for reseller I guess it's probably too expensive.

Unmetered should never, ever enter the shared hosting world. Simon

I still think that if there's two people on the server, both paying outrageous amounts, it could be done...

Posted by ukdzine, 07-27-2004, 02:39 PM
Or two people on one server paying normal dedicated server prices I think this would give the host about 120% profit. Although these two people would need very limited TOS & AUP so one does not use too much causing the server to go down. Wouldn't it be good if they could do like say 4 people on one server each sharing a 10Mbps unlimited pipe so they have like 2.5 Mbps unmetered each... if that could ever be done i don't know.

Posted by lumbyjj, 07-27-2004, 02:44 PM
Oh, it could... THey would just get whatever was available at the moment..

HA! I just looked at getting a server which can be split-up (Windows - up to 5 users) with 5Mbps 95th Percentile Bandwidth where each user could have about 90 GB HDD on a dual processor (P4 Xeon 2.4 Ghz) and it could be offered with a small profit for about $350/month.... who reckons that that would be a good plan to offer.....????

What about an unmetered VPS instead then ?

Posted by Reseller-Center, 07-29-2004, 10:34 AM
That wouldn't be good for the other VPS clients trying to use the same "pipe" if you were using all 10. However if the host had BW management capabilities this may be an option.

How could one know if they had BW management ? (What is this?)

This thread will show you a couple different ways , as well if they had higher end switch/router.. they could do the same.. Bandwidth Throttleing Last edited by Reseller-Center; 07-29-2004 at 11:27 AM.
