If you're using a weak password, or you have insecure scripts, it's easy for someone to get in. The hosting company generally isn't responsible for the security of the scripts that you use. In most cases, it is not the host that was cracked.

Well this is one of there public warnings : 1: Don't Ask Why I Defaced Your Site 2: I Have Full Backup Of Your Data 3: This Is The First Warning To You 4: You Must Know That I Owned All Server I heard one member used to be part of the defaced team but im not 100% positive. The defaced leaders themselves hacked a million dollar company awhile back. They left there email, email them and find out more then likely no one will have info on them. Most of these guys go around in security flaws exploit them and do nothing else. Re install the script put in a secure password and try to get a security expert to check over your scripts.

Check your logs on brute force attacks. Most <> are bots that place content automatically in your /var/www directory (and edit the httpd configurations). Do you have back-ups? Place some good anti brute force software on your server. <> Last edited by bear; 04-08-2010 at 10:00 PM.

Is it a CMS like wordpress or joomla? If so, you must secure your CMS installation first. Most of the hackers are using the security holes in 3rd party themes of CMSs.
