How do I do so? I added AccessFileName ht.acl .htaccess to the end of httpd.conf Neither .htaccess or ht.acl is respected My .htaccess is like this:

Are you using XAMPP, WAMP, or what? Is this Server 03, 08? Like DephNet said, you should check your httpd.conf file and look for AllowOverride, but I would be careful when setting it to all. You may want to look into AllowOverride FileInfo. It may do what you're looking for without opening up the whole thing.
