I don't quite understand... You said you have eight "1TB" HDs, but yet pvdisplay only shows one disk sized ~600GB. It just don't make any sense... even if the logical drive is created/controlled by HW RAID. Also, as long as your volume group have enough free space, you can extend any underlaying logical volumes. Provided whatever file system can be extended/reduced. So physical volume doesn't really come in play here. Can you list outputs of following commands:

pvdisplay shows the size as 593, as it is using the partition /dev/sda2. This partition is used for the creation of the physical volume. mygethosted, Paste the output of the following command over here. We will see if there is any unused space in your harddisk, sda. The free space can be partitioned, make it as physical volumes, add it to volume groups and extend the logical volume size. And if you have other harddrives that have free space in it, we can also use it.

Can you paste output from... Are you renting a server from a datacenter? If so, you need to double-check with them to make sure you were provisioned 8x1TB HDs.

I take all your drives is on that Dell PERC 6 RAID controller. Try install the megasas raid utilities and query the RAID controller for all HD details.
