Hide Server Location

Posted by dolin, 04-28-2010, 08:44 PM
Hi is there a way to hide server location from being traced by whois or network-tools? So for example my website is located at staminus, but the trace ends at a middle server which is hostgator?

No, it's not possible the way you're thinking... The only option I could see doing it is to set up a server somewhere else and then using some sort of tunnel/proxy to redirect requests from that server to the one actually serving the content but then the server doing the tunnel or proxy would still be able to be traced and if they hit that say with a DDoS or something ... the site is still going to be unreachable.

I know of a couple of sites that show their server location as "Anartica" not sure how this possible though!

Maybe they really are located in antartica or the tools you are using not reliable at all

There isn't such good way to do it, unless using a complex setup even with a tunnel or proxy, there is a way around it all.

Here's an example: 84.22.127.28 http://www.ip2location.com/free.asp http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/i...s=84.22.127.28 If someone has any idea how this is done, please share. Last edited by creepin; 05-01-2010 at 05:21 PM.

Some tools do indeed show NL, but wouldn't you say the majority of them show Anartica?

Yes, found out how.
