Posted by henrychoo, 09-17-2004, 12:34 AM
Do anyone have contact to alan at splashhost other than email and icq? I have a reseller hosting in their main server where splashhost.com reside too. The /var partition is full and all incoming and outgoing email is not working. I submit a ticket but i doubt they be able to receive it since they are on the same server. Anyone who can contact alan directly pls help me inform him or mail me his contact pls. Regards, Henry Choo

Looks like it? Someone here on WHT lives near him, I'm sorry but I forgot who. If you do a search, i'm sure you'll find that out.

10 hours later and i still cannot reach alan...i think i have exhausted all avenue.....

Any luck contacting Alan yet? He seems to be online on MSN, but I am not sure if he is actually around or not. That is a landline number not a cell phone. 01382 is the area code for this region. If telephoning from outside the United Kingdom then you would need to dial +44 1382 827755 (note the missing 0). I hope everything with Alan is okay. It is just strange that he has disappeared like this... - Chris

He's been somewhat difficult to contact for the past couple of months... If you're lucky, you'll get a response to a support ticket but I just had one close on it's own due to no response. Other friends on Splashhost have had similar problems.

I highlighted this and the previous thread to him via MSN. No response from him, but he's been signing in and out.

the drive has been full for several hours now. I'm starting to get frustrated with splashhost. I haven't had any problems for a long time, but this year I am dealing with multiple billing mistakes, unresolved tickets, unanswered emails, and now this. A maxed out drive is a URGENT problem that should get addressed ASAP, as this leaves a bunch of people hanging. Not sure what to do.

sounds like growing pains. I would consider moving if necessary.

Growing pains aside, Alan's unresponsiveness (as identified by others on Webhostingtalk, does not seem like a postive indicator of long term service stability....

I'm quite frustrated now with Alan/SplashHost, as well. I actually moved to a different webhost about five months ago and have tried contacting Alan three times to tell him to cancel my account. There's been no way to cancel the account, and he has yet to respond to any of my e-mails or support tickets. I actually had to complain to those poor folks at MyPaySystems and tell them not to accept any more payments from my card to SH. It was the only way I could stop losing a precious $40/mo. So finally, I get some e-mail from SplashHost saying that I owe $80 to SH because my credit card was twice declined by MyPaySystems. Then, I just found out today that Alan actually charged that $80 from my card through WorldPay (because I formerly had an account with Alan through WorldPay back before he switched to MPSystems). I tell you, I am royally pissed off about this. And I still have yet to find a way to contact Alan to get my account cancelled there.

I've been having problems with a site of mine as well on Splash Host. I wasn't receiving my order emails. I blamed it on PayPal. But apparently it could be Splash Host. I asked him questions about an SSL a few months back via the help desk, and got 2 "updates" that were blank. No answers, no comments, nothing. My sites were down for about an hour today too, suddenly back up. What the hell's going on? This could turn out to really suck.

We have had billing problems with Splashhost for the past several months. Initially it appeared something was wrong with their Modern Billing system. It would no longer take automated credit card payments. Then we thought it was working again, but I tried today to pay online with a credit card and it still failed to process. Communication from Splashhost has been poor to nonexistent. Several tickets created through their Help Desk have gone either unanswered or inadequately answered. We're starting to consider alternatives.

Strange that no one updated this thread about contact info. I hope he is OK. Alan "used to" frequent this forum so Im not sure what happened

Alan hasn't been doing much related to splashhost for a while now... I have seen some activity from him at www.ripplehost.com (his other hosting site) so you MAY be able to catch him there. As it is, I'd recommend cutting your losses and moving to another host. I almost can't believe that I'm saying that but splashhost has fallen a LONG ways... Edit: I just want to add that eventually I'll take my own advice. For now though I don't have enough time to move my site. Fortunately my site has been reasonably stable for the past month or two... Oh and if you're looking for a payment method that still works, the WorldPay link in Modernbill is still active.

Yeah, it's wierd that Alan just dropped off the face of the earth like that. I too hope he's ok.

Alan is fine. I'll point him in the direction of this thread.

Posted by Smithwood, 12-21-2004, 04:44 AM
good. now that he's reported to be alive and healthy, please tell him i hope he sleeps well after defrauding people for months now. still attempting to collect money for sites he knows he doesn't even own any longer is illegal and wrong. i've done chargeback after chargeback, and it's annoying to see that it wasn't just me.. it's a pattern. i wish i had time to pursue him being blacklisted from every single paysite. if you're a friend, voxtreme, maybe ask him to do the right thing and stop stealing from customers or at least publicly explaining rather than talking through friends here or changing his company name. it's that simple.

Wow! What a surprise! I should have checked WHT forums a long time ago. I have been attempting to contact Alan for months - with no luck - and now see that everybody else has been having the same problem also. I have had billing problems with 2co and mypaysystems for a long time - and Allen has not responded to me. After reading this thread, I realize we have a big problem. Question: has anybody been able to get through to Alan?

Posted by RossMAN, 12-22-2004, 12:54 AM
Alan is logged on to AIM right now, I'll let him know about this thread.

I have had a reseller account with Splash Host for almost 2 years now ... but I do not actually resell anything In the last 6 months or so ... Slash Host seems to be working overtime in compelling their customers to consider moving their sites. I hate moving my sites or changing hosts with a passion ... and because of that I tend to be more patient than most people I know. But after 6 months of problems ... and the only ones being acted upon quickly & efficiently are those involving $$$ ... I have given up and am moving my sites ASAP. Its too bad too. Splash Host & Alan ... up to 6 months or so ago ... had been the best in reliability & service & support I had ever encountered in the 5 or so years I have had reseller accounts. But it was like a switch being thrown ... one minute they are the absolute top ... then suddenly & unexpectedly they are pretty darned close to achieving the very bottom. Its sad really. And I feel badly that I feel I have to move my sites ... but for my own sanity I must do it. No other choice is being left to me. The worst part is ... I had recommended Splash Host to so many people that then signed up with them. Now ... they too have mostly moved away from Splash Host ... and my credibility as one to contact for a referral has been called into question. Gee ... thanks Splash Host & Alan. At least with Alan's new Ripplehost endeavour it does not provide support (and I guess no guarantees either) so it should maybe be more in line with what is now being offered at Splash Host ... except the costs at Ripplehost seem to reflect the "no support" policy. Signed A once Happy ... but now saddened & bitter Splash Host customer

I remember a while ago Alan said he didn't like what he was doing. Maybe he's slowly getting out of this business.

Posted by chumpman, 12-22-2004, 12:41 PM
guess he just doesn't care

Posted by Smithwood, 12-22-2004, 12:52 PM
yes, while still charging people even though they left long ago. apparently the UK is tightening the screws on people who defraud customers via paysites and automatic billing. maybe they'll 'slowly' get to alan reid.
