Posted by zooserve, 03-27-2009, 11:14 PM
Im trying to install an ssl purchased from godaddy for my client area using whm on my dedicated box clients.mydomain.com but keep getting an error: "Sorry, you must have a dedicated ip to use this feature for the user: mydomain! If you are intending to install a shared certificate you must use the username "nobody" for security and bandwidth reporting reasons" well its a dedicated box and i do have a dedicated ip of course any help appreciated thanks

I found this thread but it sure seems like the randabout way to go about this, after all it is the primary domain for the box. I would think there is an easier way? http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...=592614&page=2

In WHM, have you assigned the account that domain is on - a dedicated IP (seperate from the server IP)?

would that not cause problems as the server is set up as server01.mydomain.com if i try to set a dedicated ip for the domain it threatens to change for clients.mydomain.com, mydomain.com and server01.mydomain.com seems like the last thing i would want to do is to have the IP changed for server01.mydomain.com? thanks

I'm saying to put clients. on a seperate IP, not anything else.

well yes i have tried it exactly as described in the thread: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...=592614&page=2 but it doesn't seem to work, all i get is the Apache place holder page and also seems my original domain fails to resolve maybe i am missing something thanks

There are a few things probably going on here. One, even if you had it set up correctly via a recent change, your computer (and isp) are going to be caching the old clients. subdomain. The easiest thing to do is this. Use the WHM change site IP and change the IP for the entire domain to an IP that is not the main IP. Then, edit the DNS zone for that domain, and change the server01 subdomain IP back to the main IP of the server. Then you should be able to install the cert.

All I did is put "Nobody" for the user name in WHM and it worked perfect

I am having this same problem, can you describe how to put "Nobody" for the user name in WHM?

So after getting through all these steps - is anyone then having the issue of accessing the page and getting an error like this? When accessing content from htt ps:// server01.mydomain.com, webpage says: ----------- Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. .... Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. ------------ From the error logs: ------------ SoftException in Application.cpp:422: Mismatch between target UID (99) and UID (530) of file "/home/myuser/public_html/login/phpinfo.php" ------------- coincidentally - UID (99) = "nobody" (the user I created the certificate for) UID (530) = "myuser" (the user that owns the subdomain I created for this https service. Cheers, - Troy
