I think the key factor is simple. Antivirus - Firewall. You can get a simple firewall to check IPS connecting every second. forgot the name maybe someone can remind me would love to find it myself again. I suggest checking out a provider that provides cheep shared firewalls.

There is no simple way to stop DDoS attacks, DDoS protection is EXTREMELY expensive.

I have seen a few providers that provide. Firewalls for $40. even some UK providers i have seen providing Cisco ASA Shared firewals around 25 Pounds. It all depends who you go with. and what kind of protection they can offer. and it all depends on the level of attack. I know that the US firewall can handle upto 1GB-3GB'S as predicted on the cisco website.

A Cisco ASA is not an adequite DDoS protection device and will fail quickly (especially shared.)... Proper DDoS hardware prices thousands, not a $300 cheap firewall.

I am just saying to the user there is a cheep solution, of course for enterprise grade ddos protection. your spending thosounds. I dont think someone would pay that for a gameserver. I do know the cisco netguards work quite well. I have tested a few and they have coped under some kind of small ddos attacks around 500MBS. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/coll...d80220a7c.html

And that would be a $8000+ Piece of networking equipment that you will not be getting for $40-50/month.

I have seen BurstNet who provide that firewall for around $39. I said a shared firewall not a dedicated firewall. A shared firewall will do the same job. it just depeneds if the other servers connected to it. are not taking a lot of load. on the firewall. See http://burst.net/servers.shtml Last edited by Rick Lee; 10-27-2010 at 04:53 AM.
