Shoutcast D.N.A.S. Status issue

Posted by Jhubert, 01-08-2010, 03:08 PM
Dear webhostingtalk people, I have the following problem to propose to you. When trying to access a particular site, my browser opens a black page titled "Shoutcast D.N.A.S. status", with what seems to be information about a particular stream originating from kifradio.com. Now, I have absolutely no idea about what Shoutcast is, but people here seem to be more informed about this matter. Therefore, I was hoping that someone could tell me why this happens and how to get rid of it, as I'd just like to get to the site I'm trying to access. The strange things is that the web address stays the same, but I'm viewing what seems to be a completely different web page. I have tried multiple browsers (Firefox. IE, Chrome), but all of them give me the same results. This leads me to believe the issue has something to do with my internet connection. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out! thanks, Jhubert

If I understand this correctly you are being directed to a shoutcast stream at times when you do not want to or did not intend to be sent there. It's almost as if you have some spyware on your computer that is directing all of your requests to this new location. Can you try pinging yahoo.com and another site and see if you get the same IP address. Try this out: (if you can get there)http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...r/default.mspx

Hi enotchnet, thanks for the quick reply. Windows Defender is up and running and does not seem to notice anything wrong. About rediricting; I was actually hesitant about using that word, cause it's like I am not being redirected at all. The web browser stays at the same address but shows this Shoutcast page. Moreover, it seems that is only this specific site I am trying to access that is trouble, other sites like yahoo etc. work absolutely fine. I have a small honest confession to make about the site I am trying to access: it is thepiratebay.org. Other torrent sites do work. I apologize and am fully aware of the copyright infringement laws and penalties. (Concerning the pinging: I am actually a mac user, and this computer I'm on is a windows computer running vista, so I'm afraid I do not know how to ping precisely.)

You might be experiencing some sort of spywares on your computer forcing your browser to redirect all specified URLS to that shoutcast address. Thank God, WHT isn't redirected. (LOLZ)

If you are using a windows edition, you should be able to go to start, select the all programs menu, then browse to accessories, from there you should be able to click the program titled "command prompt". Once you are there type the following exactly: ping thepiratebay.org The reply that you get should be 194.71.107.15.

Thanks again. I pinged thepiratebay.org and I do not get the same result: instead, 91.121.72.87 appears. Proof that something is wrong? Should I run a thorough virus/malware scan, or what do you suggest?

Have you checked your hosts file? Perhaps some spyware or something changed it. See if there's a thepiratebay.org entry.
