Some advice please

I had a potential client sign up this morning. However I never activated the account as the registered domain was suspect. All accounts are manually created anyways. The `client` signed up through whmAP with a yahoo address, and paid via paypal with another email address. The paypal address is verified and used an instant payment. An hour later I emailed the yahoo address and asked a few questions regarding the domain, just to put my mind at rest. I never heard anything back. I have just recieved an email from the email address used with the paypal account, saying money has been removed from her account for a subscription with Maritimes Hosting and wants her money returned. She doesn`t know what it`s for and has no idea who my business is. Yes, it`s a mighty 8 dollars!! but it still concerns me. Should I contact paypal and ask them to investigate? I have this feeling I`ll return to money to her, then find I`ll lose another eight dollars because the first was fraudulent or something (if you know what I`m saying). Return the money and move on?

Just return it. You don't want to have any problems

Thanks, just about to. I called paypal, and waited 20 minutes - yawn!! They`ve reported it as fraudulent and advised I return the money. The person with the paypal account wrote to me saying her account has been hacked. She told me her paypal account has been put on hold, paypal said that is not true. Oh well......... Whatever, it`s eight bucks and less worry than if it was a few hundred!!

Return the money and do as suggested by paypal! Note down the IP from where the order came for future reference and always be alert of such scam.

Thank, funds have been returned. My first scam, should I feel privilaged, and do I ascend to a higher plain now IP has been noted and pending account removed.

People frequently get their PayPal usernames and passwords ripped off, from phishing schemes or whatever. Since you stand to lose little, I would just refund the money and move on.

Gee, you try to do the right thing and get punished for it I followed their advice returned her funds, I just woke this morning to find my paypal account is temporarily on hold. Yes, the whole account. They said it would take between 4 and 5 days to have the hold lifted. In that time my paypal account is useless, all because I did the right thing. I`m the innocent one here, and can I try to get through to paypal - I`ve had that infuriating music! You get scammed, you report the issue, follow their advice and then they punish you.
