What to do if server is over 24 hours down?

Actualy I'm very happy with my host, excellent support, good speed and some other things. Now in the last weeks I realized that there were problems with the uptime, but now it is more than 24 hours that the servers are down. This is especially bad for all my clients, which are companies and even can't receive their email's during the downtime, or worse all emails sent to them are lost. What should I do? Change the host? As I mentioned I'm quite happy with my host, but this doesn't help my business. So what to do?

Are they keeping you in the loop with regular updates? If not then I suggest trying to get in contact with them and asking for an ETA. If that fails change hosts.

The main problem is that I don't know at all what's going on. The page from host is down too, same as all the mailservers. Any email I send them, they even don't receive. So I need to wait, and hope that my clients (here in Asia) don't check their email during night, or their sites.

You're quite happy with your host, yet the host has 24hrs of downtime? I wouldn't be too happy with my host if I was in that situation. I'd look at getting another host ASAP to get your customers sites up. Then you can consider staying with the new host, or going back to the one you have now once they are back online.

I had this problem ones, and signed then up for another hosting company. 1 hour later after I spend some money for the new host, my old one was back on track. I didn't feel good about this situation. Asking the Support Team from the new host to set everything up, and than to go back to the old host. I'm afraid of doing the same mistake again.

Most reptuable hosts invest an extra $10 a month for an offsite network page so if an outage does happen clients have somewhere to go and see any updated information. Perhaps if you are on the lookup you should ask potential hosts for a 3rd party uptime link to their servers and if they have an offsite page for emergencies.

As I said, I can't get in touch with them at all.

It sounds like they're a small host who is hosting their sales site on the same server or reseller account as their customers. If you're truly happy with them, I wouldn't write them off due to a 24-hr downtime; but if they don't get it fixed soon then you will have no choice but to move on. If you end up moving, be sure to look for a host with multiple contact methods so you can get ahold of them in case of emergency.

Of all the people who could answer the question, you should know the answer best. If your web host is preventing you from conducting business, generating client complaints, or causing you too much stress, then you should definitely pack your bags and find another host.
