Question about Selling Web Hosting

Posted by deadlyromio, 04-04-2005, 06:43 PM
Hi all, well I left a few post and I really liked what I read around the forum and I got a good laugh (sorry for those people) at some horrid stories about ebay and other reselling companies but totally forgot to ask the question of why I was here. I work for a equity company that has alot of servers at different data centers. I don't know why they did this because they barely use any of them, so my job in this company is entrenchment management. I have to allocate all non-usable products, such as servers to be somewhat profitable (I use the term loosely because I don't think they can make much off of selling chairs and old computers on Ebay). Anyways, I was going to do two things with the servers that are empty. Either use them for selling to resellers so they can do all the pricing and setup of customer accounts or I was going to use them as a storage center for other companies around my area since I work in a high business area I think I can do this but it's going to be alot of walking which I don't want to do. So I just wanted to get a feel of if anyone was interested in purchasing the space on the servers. Even if I did go ahead and let the IT people do this it won't be for at least a month until I could get this finished as there are other parts of the company I have to look into first. Price (only an est. based on MIS and avaliable servers at this moment) All these are est. and may go up or down depending on final cost analysis. Please let me know if you could tell me if pricing is reasonable or not. DC=(4)Texas,(1) Seattle, and (1)Canada..we have the most in Texas at some place called "The Planet" 30gigs at 300gigs of bandwidth, cpanel or plesk (is that how you spell it) and all the other basic web hosting stuff, domains etc...not sure what that stuff is but you people probably know what it is.. dual 2.8 xeon w/cisco firewall hardware blah blah blah...ok I'm not going to write the rest because you get the idea..I'm sure it's the same server or compariable to the ones you folks all use.. Price range is 69-110$ depending on licences and other stuff (I don't know what other stuff they mean) 3 servers at texas are free, one is half full and the others are half full also with same data (guess it was for backup) Ok..so give me a feedback, tell me if this is good or not since I have no idea if the pricing is good for resellers out there..

Once you get everything setup you may want to place your offer in the offer section on this site.

We've hosted our dedicated servers with The Planet for almost a year now and have been nothing but satisfied all the way through. I'm sure you'll be happy with The Plant as well, if you choose them as your web host.
