Reseller to VPS then maybe dedicated
Posted by kentcounty, 05-27-2005, 12:53 PM |
Hi all,
I know, another `looking for....` thread!!
I have used the request a quote feature, but in 7 days I have yet to get a reply, and searching the forums hasn`t found me what I`m looking for.
I need a reseller account around the $15 a month range, with approx 1-1.5GB space and around 25-35GB bandwidth. More importantly, I would prefer the server specs to be higher than your average budget reseller, preferably 3-4GB ram. Basically, some stability.
Am I asking too much? Personally 1GB of space and 25-35GB bandwidth seems quite reasonable for $15? Obviously good support is also crucial, and eventually I want an easy road that can take me to VPS and maybe even dedicated in the future.
Thanks.

Not too many people use the HostQuote feature anymore, I believe they all flock to HostVoice.com. The specs you ask for is pretty reasonable, although you don't really see a 1-35 ratio a lot (in my opinion). Do you exactly NEED 3-4 GB RAM? It's not necessarily what you have in it, it's how you run it.
If you said $20 and 1 GB / 20 GB, I would suggest RSHosting.com to you -- they're all about quality. Dual Xeons with 2 GB RAM, tweaked and run perfect in all aspects.
Hope this helps.

Id like to ask why 3-4GB of ram there will be alod of other folk on the same server? your requests are reasonable unlike alot across the forums as for a providor id hunt around the forums offers section etc, Browse other forums look for reviews, things of that sort, Good luck with your search off the top of my head i cant suggest anything

Your request is indeed reasonable but I don't think I have seen any server that has 3-4 GB of RAM so yet. I am sure they are out there but I think plans offered from such machines will cost a bit more.

I`m new to this game, but I guessed the higher the ram, the more stability a server would have?

Not necessarily. It's all about how many clients are on the server, how the server is tweaked.. etc. 2 GB RAM is more than enough, even 1 GB is great.
It all comes down to how the system software is configured.

The challenge is then, to find a host that does not overload it`s servers, and manages them well Thanks for the clarification, now for the fun part of finding them.

This is when your adventure starts! In my attempt to help you get started and I believe I said at the beginning of the thread, check out RSHosting.com -- they don't oversell, great quality and they tweak servers to perfection.
Good luck in your search!
