Looking for THE best host? HTTPme works for me!

Posted by Ginger45, 07-06-2005, 02:26 AM
I thought I'd come back here and write a review of my new host. I switched over to HTTPme five months ago after being with Hostgator for a couple of years. HG had thrown me for a loop for the last time, and I decided to do the drastic thing and move my 8+ sites at the time to a new host. I just couldn't put up with the downtime, for myself, my commercial sites, or for my clients. I especially coudln't deal with their lackluster support and antics of blaming everyone but themselves (eg. ISP) I tried HTTPme due to reviews on this site, and I am SOOOO glad I did. I now host over 15 domains through them on my account. They are reasonable priced, but not so cheap as to make you wonder why. In five months I had ONE downtime, which was shortlived and was dealt with quickly and appropriately by their support dept. They took full responsibility, explained the mistake fully, and apologized. Wow!! Three of my sites are dynamically driven, and are fast and efficient on HTTPme's servers. Faster than they were with HG. Their cpanel options are great, and stats packages are just what I wanted/needed (awstats, webalizer). Perhaps one of the most important aspects of HTTPme that I love is the people. They are nice, friendly, and always quick and ready to help and answer your questions. Go to their website (http://www.httpme.com)...it's basically just a forum! How cool is that? They just lay it out there..no coverying up in fancy graphics, no hiding. Just real people on a real forum telling it like it is. That is because they have nothing to hide...they are that good. I'm very pleased. Can you tell?? http://www.mytripreport.com Last edited by Ginger45; 07-06-2005 at 02:31 AM.

Excellent Review. Bob and the crew really do an excellent job managing their company.

Thanks! That totally made my day. I am very much in the background these days. I'm not involved in the day to day running etc. Steven (httpme owner), Nick, Rich, Zach, Adam, and the team of sysadmins, keep things humming along rather nicely. *pats on backs*

Well written review Ginger45. Some people would call HTTPme expensive, but I'm glad to see you don't feel that way. Good job HTTPme!

It seems a bit pricey at first glance, but then consider that this isn't just a shared hosting account with tons of space...you are now a reseller with more load/domains on the machine. This is where the higher pricing comes in...that + a particular higher level of service than normal according to the good review above.

Well, I think you really have to go by the adage "you get what you pay for". My account was much larger and much cheaper when I was with Hostgator, and it had much more ongoing problems, with outages, and problems with contacting support. I'd rather pay more and have the peace of mind that my sites are more secure, and if I do have a problem I can easily and quickly get an honest, knowledgable and friendly response. Cheers!

Don't forget that usually when companies charge more they put less sites per server which leads to faster speeds . -GSV

True dat. Many hosts may have issues though and are still considered reliable. Downtime is inevitable.

Once again please provide a ticket number where we did not respond to you. I may never understand why you keep accusing us of not responding when we in fact did many times. We cannot prevent private emails from filtering, blocking, or not receiving what we send.

I mean really, it's been five months. I dont' have ticket numbers up my sleeves. And we both know it had nothing to do with filtering, blocking, or anything else given that I supplied you with three or four different email addresses to contact me. Again, like I said in the other thread, I am simply here to give an update and a review of my new host whom I am very happy with. I thought that this site was about real people giving honest, non-biased reviews of hosts based on their experiences, not having to defend themselves or their viewpoints when they do. I am simply doing just that, stating my experience. I'm sure there are others' who have differing ones, many positive I'm sure. But this is mine, and you can't negate it. And being rude or short with me doesn't endear you to me, or to others I'm sure.

I'm able to look up the tickets in our system. We emailed you many times which you did not receive. You keep saying were bad for ignoring you when we did in fact email . We are being blamed for your email provider or computer filtering / not delivering. I'm all up for you, posting a review regarding how well httpme is doing, they deserve it for sure!! I sincerely wish you a great future with httpme.

I think you're doing a politician's job of concentrating on the emails, when the main issue was with the fact that my site was down and displayed with an awful message for no explained reason, then I was told I had to transfer to a more expensive dedicated server when this wasn't the case. And as I stated in the other thread, I DID recieve your email, I quoted it in that thread. But thanks for the well wishes.

Another very happy HTTPme customer here, they host GottaDeal.com on a dedicated server. I also have a resellers account as well (one of my 8). They aren't the cheapest but they are definitely worth every last penny if you want quality web hosting. Steven recently launched HTTPme VPS Plans

HTTPme is definitely on the expensive side, but I don't think I've ever heard a complaint about them!

I think they are the "rackspace" (premium hosting provider) or the reseller market. Yes, they are more expensive, but I also believe "you get what you pay for". Anyone is free to register for their helpdesk (http://support.httpme.com) and test out their support for themselves, without being a customer. Their support response time and quality is pretty impressive!

Thanks for the review Ginger45 I'm putting HTTPme on my list of hosts to review. I'm sick of my current host HostDepartment. Every two days or so one web or email server goes down and I find myself responding to my clients about their downtime or missing emails than running my business. What made me want to move is I think their technical support people they've hired to handle chat support lack technical skills.

Never heard of them ? Maybe is because they are "beyond review" stage . Or you can say they have graduated. HTTPme has been very impressive in terms of transparency to its customer. This is what I appreciate about them, though I am not one fo their customer. I am with another hosting company owned by the same owner. (which uses a forum as well , to interact with its reseller) Joshua
