DNS Conflict?

Posted by Draco, 08-24-2005, 01:56 PM
Hello there There's this situation, I had to move to another server (not because the old one was bad, it was because some choices i had to make ), anyway, the new host gave me their anonymus DNS information (ideal for resellers) something like ns1.dns.com and ns2.dns.com. I decided NOT to use them ,so instead I used their IP info to keep using my private dns info (ns1.km-host.net & ns2.km-host.net). and as i said on the title, seems to be a conflict once I decided to use my own dns information, is this forcing me to use THEIR dns? Or is there a solution for this? (just in case..I did emailed them about the situation, but I want to know the opinion from this forum). Thanks

2 things : 1) Did your host add your custom DNS in the system ? 2) In your WHM >> DNS Functions >> Edit a DNS Zone >> yourdomain.com, check what DNS the domain is set up with.

The dns zone for your domain is pointing to the anoymous nameservers provided by your host, which do not match the nameservers you've assigned to your domain name. Assuming you have the correct ip address assigned to your custom nameservers this will work fine. If you have access to modifying your domains dns zone, then you can change the nameservers listed to match your custom nameservers. You should add the ns1. and ns2. records to your dns as well.
