Need a reliable and fast provider for hosting personal sites

Posted by netmastan, 10-09-2005, 01:28 PM
I got around 10 domains. None of them exceeded traffic 2GB/month and space 400 MB.Most of them are few MB. I'm looking for a reliable provider . It has to be fast and good uptime. http://www.iserve.co.nz is very fast but very expensive. My budget is around $10 to $20/Month. All I need is a reliable hosting provider and excellent uptime record and of course excellent support. I'm not a hosting company and don't wana be one . I just want to host my own personal sites as well as some of my friend's website. I'm with a company now and they are down most of the time and recently they changed their policy ,"everyone has to use smtp authenication before sending mail". And I think its sucks as they don't provide any help and I don't have time to change mail settings in every scripts that I've installed. I'm thinking to join with resellerzoom. Ok, tell me do i need resellerzoom or bluewho or .. recomend me one please.. Thanks

Hi netmastan, HostCentric's quality has improved remarkably over the past few months, so I would recommend any of their reseller programs. I would also recommend Resellers Panel, if HostCentric does not have what you're looking for.

Look around on a few sites, go with which one you feel is best.

My advice to you is this: Compile a list of five companies that seem “good” for you and then e-mail the sales department of each host with a few basic questions such as: 1) Could you please give me more information on your servers and network? 2) Do you have any public records of server/network uptime? 3) What are the means of support and average response times? 4) Do you offer a money back guarantee? 5) Why should I chose you?

Check the offers section and find a few companies and then search the forum or google for reviews. Remember in most cases you get what you pay for, so dont jump on a 1000 Gb bandwidth deal for 32 cents a month.

Hostgator is a solid host from the reviews I have seen. I just joined them and so far it has been good.

Hi, On the top of the page there is a "pull down menu" that says Find A Host, you can use the host quote section on there to get some leads. Good luck in your search.

Hmmm...I sometimes wonder if when folks post asking for a host recommendation, they would rather get personal advice and not a bunch of replies telling them to use the HostQuote feature?

Maybe so, but the Host Quote is a good feature and I would assume most people replying have thier own server and do not have a host to recommend. The host quote is at least some advice. Which is better than offering none.

True, but surely everyone here knows of at least one other reputable Web site host that can meet a given poster's needs?

There is the key word, "reputable". When I used to use reseller accounts I had to constantly move because of the lack of support. I could not recommend any of them but I do not want to bash them either. Longest I ever stayed with one was 2 years. I got really fast at changing reseller accounts. :-)

I guess you do have a point there. Sorry to hear of your bad luck with reseller providers! I guess one upside, though, would be that now you can offer consulting services to other resellers looking to move to a new provider!
