CPanel license activation

Posted by dnki, 04-09-2011, 06:47 AM
After I login to my CPanel account, I am getting the following message Thank You for installing cPanel / WHM. This server is currently not licensed. Please contact the server administrator. Other services available on this server such as web services are likely functioning normally. (Cannot read license file) Once the license on this server is active, you will no longer see this message. If you have installed a license since loading this page, click here to reload. My websites seem to resolving properly, but when I connect using FTP to my account, there seem to be no files in the public_html folder. What could be the possible problems?

It could be that the server have not got it's license renewed. You would need to contact your provider for that.

But why are my files not accessible when I connected through FTP. Last edited by dnki; 04-09-2011 at 07:13 AM.

There could be many things that cause this, which are not in our control here. The cPanel license could be playing a role (it hide the files), but we, at WebHostingTalk, have no way of knowing. I would advise you to take this with your host.

Because the licensing only prevents cPanel/WHM from running and does not stop Apache/MySQL/FTP/etc...

So my files should be accessible through FTP, but they are not accessible. Has the host moved them elsewhere without my permission even after making payment?

I have no way of answering that question just like I can't tell you what color shirt you're wearing, I'm not there (or at your provider) so I have no way of knowing what they have or have not done.

Exactly. While we might be able to give normal advice, we're not able to give any advice on specific companies, etc.

Maybe you need to check the IP address. Is it belong to you, or is it changed? And then, check from the File Manager in Cpanel, is there any files at your /public_html/ or is it redirected to another directory?

Contact your host. It might be the firewall.

If you can't help, why post. Why do you assume that I wear shirts? By the way I have purchased Reseller Hosting from MDD hosting 2 months ago and I have never worn a shirt for more than 18 years, some of your customers may be ladies also.

Yep! More than likely a simple overlooked mistake, or missed license, or failed verification. Your files more than likely are still there, just inaccessible due to the license invalidation.

Because you asked as though you expected somebody to be able to help you and I wanted to make it clear to you that nobody, but the provider, would be able to answer the question you're asking. I did help, I just didn't help with the information you wanted. I've not assumed anything, it was an arbitrary example of information that I wouldn't be able to provide and wasn't meant to be taken literally. Nice, if you do need assistance with the service (can't say I know of any of our servers facing any issues), do open a ticket. I am sure we do have customers who don't wear shirts and customers that are ladies, and I have nothing against them. Again, I could have made another arbitrary example as to the dimensions of the room you're in, whether you're in a room, the color or existence of the carpet in the room you may or may not be in, the color of your hair, your height, or anything else that there would be no way for me to know without actually being there
