Resellerzoom mailservers

Posted by ACcomunica, 02-27-2005, 12:34 AM
I've been using resellerzoom for two weeks now. support staff is great, uptime is excellent, I have only one complain: mailserver returns error messages often. I'm using Outlook 2002 and Thunderbird and on both I received messages like "too much load; try again later" and "server timeout". Sites are loading fast, everything is fine but these errors are really annoying. I've reached support and they made some tests and couldn't find anything wrong. They also asked me to change smtp port to 26. I can send and receive mails without problems most of the times, but recently one of my clients told me that three messages he sent to me bounced and now I'm starting to worry about it. Is that supposed to happen? What should I do? Thanks for your attention.

Support opened a ticket and they are looking onto it now. Server was down for 15 minutes today but now everything is working fine. Thanks for your quick response James and Kiet.

I'm on juno and I'm still having problems with mailserver. People are complaining they can't send messages to me. Server load was very high a few minutes ago - 7.35. Server was down for 15 minutes today.

I'm a ResellerZoom customer on juno server and SMTP and POP3 are down very often. Is that supposed to be like this? I've reached support and they asked me if everything was fine now. Yes, it's fine now, but twice a day it is not! I'm using SiteUptime to monitor my site. I hope they can fix these problems soon. It's very important to me have a reliable e-mail, actually I never thought this could be a concern.

As usual ResellerZoom support was very quick to reply my ticket. They said it was a firewall issue and now it's solved. Thanks Kevin for your great support!

Hi guys. Any problems now? I wonder going with them, but don't want email problems...

I'm not having mail problems anymore. I gave up on ResellerZoom and switched to Site5. Everything is fine now.

Me to im having huge problems with mail on resellerzoom. Them support if grait in time to response small problems but when it comes to serous and unusual stuff (mailman crash, smtp certs, mail lost) they just drop interest. Servers of reseller zoom are buggy indeed. If you are looking for quality, do NOT sign up with resellerzoom.

Let me get this straight to make sure I haven't missed anything. You have been with RZ for "two weeks". You also say that, "support staff is great" and "uptime is excellent". You go on to mention some problems with sending and receiving email, all of which, by your own acknowledgement, were resolved quickly and reliably, yet you bail RZ and switch to Site5? Help me to understand your rationale for bailing on RZ. I know that you cannot possibly please everyone, but I'd seriously like to know why you gave up on them so quickly. Thanks, Greg

Please tell me how you qualify what you're saying here. What do you mean by huge problems? What is a "mailman crash"? Can you even justify the last two sentences? It comes across as hyperbole... Greg

botchka, This thread is a month old but I will answer your questions anyway. First I will repeat what I have said here before. RZ support staff is great, they are very responsive and corteous. Uptime wasn't a problem on RZ, the server was up for 99.8% of the time. I was very glad with this part of RZ but I had some other problems as mentioned in here and other threads. POP3 and SMTP were often down for a few minutes during the day. Server load was high for most of the day, floating between 3.00 and 13.00. And then I started to receive "500 Internal Server Error" when trying to access my PHP pages (Fantastico scripts, most of it). They told me that Fantastico scripts were too poorly written and that those scripts were using too many system resources. It was critical to me to have my blog up and could not wait until they figured out why my pages weren't running. I made a quick switch to Site5 and cancelled my account with RZ (after a couple of days they figured out the problem - they've told me). I have no problems with RZ and I'll probably open another account with them in the future but not for my blog. RZ delivers a VERY good service for $4.95 - no question. But I would rather have my critical pages on Site5 where I pay $22.95. I'm a very happy Site5 customer today, my sites are always up and server load is most of the time under 1. I feel confident to have my blog hosted there. If you cannot afford 22.95/mo I think ResellerZoom is a great option. Regards,

A month later and you're still having the mail problems from before? Does RZ run e-mail through one server or something, this seems to be happening to multiple servers.

If you are who I think you are (based on username), then you are on the jupiter server. 99.89%, 99.89%, 99.9% uptime for current and last few months since the server went up. I saw ONE ticket in our helpdesk for you back in late January when you first signed up and nothing since. You wanted us to transfer the mailman list from your old provider but that was not possible so we had you upload the backup and told you that we can try to restore it from the backup but there are no guarantees. It eventually did not work so i'm not sure how your mailman issue is our fault? If you are experiencing other issues, your first option should be to contact our support dept so we can investigate.

The problem with emails is the config with MX. The other opcion for repair this problem is change the port 25 for 26 and don't check box for Authentic Server. Ahn...all work fine.
