Dedicated Server Reseller

Posted by ServerSurgeon John, 12-28-2005, 09:36 PM
I have at least one customer a week ask me to recommend a good dedicated server provider and lately I've been thinking about getting into this business. The initial investment is concern as my wife left work to have our first baby this month (which she did on Dec. 12th). So I thought perhaps I could start by reselling dedicated servers to avoid the initial cost of getting a rack and hardware. I was wondering if anyone may know of a provider preferably with fast response support that offers a reseller program. Or hoping perhaps someone could give me some advice before going down this road. Thanks in advance for any help. Last edited by ServerSurgeon John; 12-28-2005 at 09:44 PM.

Thanks for the replies. About a year ago I did contact thePlanet and even filled out a long Excel spreadsheet as an application. They didn't contact me for a week, so I called them, and they said give it at least two weeks. I waited but never got a reply, so I don't want to go down that route again. I'll look into the others tonight. If you've had any experience reselling with them please let me know.

Are you looking for dedicated server provider with an established reseller program or any dedicated server provider in general?

I think he is looking to sell ( resell) dedicated servers as a whole. Well, SS, I would recommend going with Dedicatednow as I can find a reseller service on their site where you can sell their servers keeping your profit, though you will need to take care about their T&C.

Yes, I am looking for a company which will allow me to resell thier dedicated servers. Dedicatednow does not seem to have any lower priced servers without paying a rather steep setup fee. I noticed layeredtech has a reseller program and their setup fees are not so steep. I can't access thier order form right now though (https://www.layeredtech.com/orderFra...ageID=832&g=12) as it is timing out, that's a concern. As far as gnax and calpop I don't see anything on thier sites about reselling dedicateds. I'll keep looking, and when I find a reseller I like (or don't like for any reason), I'll post back here.

Have you asked dedicatednow about their reseller program? You should, the unswer I got was somewhat of a putdown. (At least for the 'real' reseller program.)

I tried calling DedicatedNow sales but just got an automated system asking me to leave a voicemail. What did you mean by "putdown" - how did they respond to you?

It seems to me that most companies don't trust it when you say you want to resell, they think you just want a discount on your own servers. I tried calling DedicatedNow again and got another voice mail system.

try superbservers.net, burst.net server resell program. both have a great experience with server reseller within a long time and you don't need discuss with them about something special. both reseller program is clear and easy for undestanding and do not require from you nothing except good marketing and business plan. As minumum for beginner level.
