Maximum memory supported by CentOS 6

I want to know the maximum memory supported by CentOS 6. Does the 32 bit version support 8 GB and 16 GB RAM or we should go with the 64 bit version?

Hi 64 bit will do 8 or 16, but the i386 will do the same with PAE. I would go with 64 bit OS for 4 Gig and above personally. Thanks

http://www.centos.org/product.html -- doesn't explicitly list CentOS 6 but I suspect the maximum supported memory has not decreased any.

While that 8/16gb will work on 32bit. I would recommend using 64bit.

It is better to use 64 bit as it gives the room for future HW upgrade.

You indeed should go to 64bit , even though you can handle more memory with PAE on 32bit each process is limited to a max of 4GB.

Thanks everyone. I would go for 64bit CentOS whenever required.

64 bit is a good choice for future upgrade
