DNS server, Managed DNS, Private name server???

Hi, I just signed up a reseller plan with Site5. The plan supports "Private DNS Servers", which means I can use ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com. However I was told to ask my domain registrar, which is Directi (ResellerClub), to create the 2 nameservers in order to use them. Not really sure what to do, I purchased the Managed DNS service for the domain from Directi. Later on I clicked around then found something called "Manage Child Name Server". So I went in and created 2 child name servers, ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com. However I discovered that "Manage Child Name Server" option was actually available to domain names without the purchased Managed DNS service also. Right now I'm really confused about all these. Under the Managed DNS service of Directi, I can add various records. However, under the reseller WebHost Manager of Site5 I can also do that. So, where should the records be added? What about the Child Name Server? What is the correct procedure to set up all these and get things going? Would really appreciate some advice from the experts here. Thanks a lot.

In DirectI, Child Name Servers are your private DNS Their managed DNS is useful when you dont have hosting only

So that means the purchased Managed DNS service is wasted? Then what about the name servers of mydomain.com under Directi? Should I change them to ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com? Thanks

sorry, but yes, you have wasted money for that. After making Child Name Servers, you can use them now for your domains, dont need to use DirectI DNS anymore
