Hello, For all you resellers out there... I am looking for advice on keeping my hosting company anonymous. This is my situation and questions. What are some ways to keep my hosting business anonymouse... I know private name servers are one step. But let's consider domain registration.. Do I register with my home address (Canada)???? What about contact info on my site.. I am not ready to provide a toll free number, so Do I give my cell number and treat it as the main business line?? Any other sugestions and things that have worked for you would be great! (Originally I was purchasing a reseller account, just to host the sites of my web design clients, but then I thought.. why not put up a hosting site as well.. Even If I only get one client, that is more than if I had not put up the hosting site..)... Thanks in Advance...

Why/what are you trying to keep anonymous? The fact your a reseller? If so ask your host for anonymous name servers. Your personal info? Why? What are you trying to hide? Companies that usually try to hide all their info have a reason to hide all their info and are usually the amatuers of the business.

I am just wondering how it would work in a situation like this... If my website describes my servers as dual..blah blah blah.. located in florida.. and then my contact number is a canadian number... How do you explain this situation to clients.... And as stated in your signature "t started off with 1 customer, who told thousands more" that is my plan.. I am only starting put small... so When I write things on my site.. If I were to write "We at hostblahblah".. would be deceiving as I will be the only "employee" so to speak in the beginning.... Do you understand what I am trying to get at?? Last edited by fatluke; 04-20-2006 at 11:19 AM.

OK jmweb... I see your getting the wrong impression of what I was asking... I am fairly new to this business and am still doing research.... I have looked at your site and see your office is Canada and your servers are in the US.... as I imagine most hosting companies are... now I have clarified that I do not really have to hide anything.....

It's "illegal" to register a domain name with false information. I'm based in Canada, with servers in the U.S. and no one said anything about it. Clients usually care about the speed and reliability of it all, along with support. You'll obviously have the rare client which will not like you having your servers somewhere else, and you won't be able to do much about it. Let them go get their own server or go somewhere else. Best of luck

Thanks for the reply Anthony... That's what I was worried about if you get a client that is wondering how your business can be in Canada, but your servers somewhere else.... Thanks again..

That's what your 'About' page is for.

It is uncommon for the business registration and the servers to be in the same place, some large companies are, but there are many large webhosts they have their business in one state, and servers in another. Last edited by (Stephen); 04-20-2006 at 01:01 PM.

No worries, fatluke. Our office is in Vietnam, but we colo our equipments in the US. It's a bit difficulty, but we still have many abroad customers. Dont try to hide anything, keep your customers updated and provide them a good customer supporting service. It takes time, but you will have customers good luck
