Need Recommendation

Posted by domaincart, 07-12-2006, 01:49 PM
We are looking for a new hosting company that provides Cpanel/RVSKIN reseller hosting and managed VPS and managed dedicated servers. Also the servers' uptime is the most important thing for us. I found Hostdime and Jaguarpc. Hostdime provides %99.5 network uptime. It's %99.9 on Jaguarpc. But Hostdime own a data center and I think Jaguarpc is a small company. Also I don't know that how is their technical support(I tryed to search on WHT). So we could not decide which will we choose. Which company do you recommend? Thanks. Yes, I know. I had tryed to give an order for many times. But I had received the error message from their order system. And they don't provide RVSKIN. Also if you wish upgrade your reseller account to VPS or Dedicated when they don't move the account to the server. But Jaguarpc and Hostdime do it.

As far as I can see, it's 100% on Jaguarpc. The way I see it, any self respecting datacenter has to strive for 100% uptime and reach it in most years. In the end though, the choice should not be based on the guarantee, but on real life results. Interesting you're saying that. You must be part of a relatively small company yourself. Do you think that makes you "bad"?

No, certainly not. Also I liked JaguarPC. But I am thinking what big companies offer more solutions, more reliable, working more professional and stronger than small companies(for example our second hosting provider had closed and our current provider stoped to sell reseller hosting, they getting smaller). We purchased a reseller hosting from Hostdime yesterday. We are waiting our account information at this time. Last edited by domaincart; 07-14-2006 at 08:23 AM.

I used HostDime in 2003/2004 and my experience was very, very bad that I never thought of considering them again. Of course, I don't know how they are right now. I currently use services connected to JaguarPC (I'm using a part of a friend's JPC VPS) and am very happy with them. Since you've signed up with HostDime, It would be nice to see your review of them a few months from now.

Smaller hosting companies can still offer great packages but they may choose to limit themselves to a target audience or cater to select clients. For example--focusing solely on resellers or solely on those with dedicated servers. With such specilization, they can build up to indeed be very good in such a tight niche.

Thank you. How is speed of JaguarPC servers? I saw bad reviews about this subject on the web. If the servers are fast when I can move my accounts to JaguarPC. Hostdime did not open my account still.

I'm using a part of a friend's JaguarPC VPS account. And it's among the fastest of the servers I currently use. However, my needs are fairly different. Although I take care of about 100 sites, I spread them among different resellers and none of them have high bandwidth or complex scripts (95% of them use up < 1GB bandwidth per month!). But the thing is, on a shared server, what matters is how your hosting provider manage the accounts. On Site5, for example, I have 30 accounts on my ARTEMIS reseller account and I hardly generate any traffic from those accounts. Yet, I've had problems with ARTEMIS on and off the past 6 months. It's just really bad! That is, there are other resellers on the server probably abusing the resources but it seems that Site5 doesn't know how to deal with such customers. In contrast, companies like HOSTGATOR and BLIKSEMHOSTING are very good at doing that. Sometimes too good that you end up reading posts here from people complaining about HG or Bliksem suspending their accounts. But while 1 customer complains, hundreds of other accounts on that same server will continue to perform well because of decisions like that. Although I feel that HG and Bliksem can sometimes be too tough (particularly Bliksem), they do it for the proverbial better good. Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience with JPC to give you detailed information on how they are. But I can tell you, my HostDime experience was horrible! If you haven't yet decided, I'll ask my friend to chime in on this thread and give his own review of JPC.

i've had direct experience with jagpc. they've had a little bit of trouble in the past month due to their data center move, but after that things have been really smooth. i get fantastic response from the tech support, great speeds on the server, and i have pretty much all positive things to say about them. they also have an excellent upgrade path- you can start with a reseller, move up to vps which itself has 3 different options with numerous customizations, and finally to a number of dedicated server configurations. you say they're small, i say they're personalized! the owner of the company is frequently seen on these forums sorting out issues some people have (most self-inflicted) and in my experience personally answers emails to him often within hours. good guy to deal with, trustworthy company, you can't go wrong!

We tryed Jaguarpc, too. But we did not like the speed and the specifications of their reseller server(maybe their VPSs better). We are working with Hostdime at this time. Their servers fast. Their support and sales departments are working everyday and we can get answers to our questions quickly. Everything shows excellent at this time.

I second this. The very first website I owned with hosted with HostDime which left a very bad taste in my mouth. With that being said, I wouldn't even let non-profit host with HostDime.

I think he's still deciding on the VPS account though.
