need suggestion on Stable and Fast Reseller account

Posted by HKC_, 12-13-2006, 10:44 PM
After the roller coaster ride with Bliksem, I decided I want to find a reseller with these conditions: 1. Stable, means less down time 2. Fast server 3. WHM & Cpanel Cost is not really a big issue here, can anyone advise me which host is reputable and has these criterias, when I find them, I want to stay there for a long time, except problem arise. at this time I can only search and hope that I could connect to bliksem to save all my database. Cheers, Harry

What type of budget do you have and how much space are you looking for?

Posted by gate2vn, 12-13-2006, 11:07 PM
if you really need cPanel, you can contact idologic.com. They are recommended many times on this board. Also, they are using the same dc with us, so I can know how good the network is. Or if you can open to another control panel like DirectAdmin. From my view, it's much more better than cPanel. Idologic provides DA accounts as well

If you let us know the webspace/bandwith requirements along with any specifics you would like, i'm sure people here will be able to give you a more accurate recommendation

thanks for all your comment, seems like I need to add some information here bandwidth: 10-20 GB Space about 2-3 GB, I usually host not more than 10 account as for Control panel, I need WHM and Cpanel, I never used Direct Admin before. budget: under $50 would be reasonable isn't it? 50 per month or per year Per month, it's surelly okie Have you visited Idologic yet? Concerning the control panel: have you tried DA demo at http://www.directadmin.com/ ? We started with cPanel, then switched all servers to DA, and our customers are happy More stable, easy to use... and of course, you can convert your current data from cPanel to DA without trouble

Harry stated twice he requires cPanel/WHM yet you still recommend Direct Admin. Are you reading what he's saying? He also stated he has never used DA before so what's the point in recommending something he has no experience of...

cause I am saying on my experience about cpanel and directadmin. Just want to suggest the best solution

thank you everybody, I'm looking at everyone's signature in this post. btw it's under $50/month, sorry for not being so precise, but as I said earlier budget shouldn't be a big issue to me, after knowing that saving me money actually can give me a headache when server down. I would rather live happily and peacefully knowing my server is okay, so I can continue on other stuff. this should be the least thing that worries me. Harry

Besides that, look in the offers forum, and search around WHT. There's been multiple threads with the same requirements you just listed. Your budget is sound for what you want. Reliability comes at a price, and it's pretty rare we see someone realize that. Kudos to you. As for cPanel/WHM/DirectAdmin/H-Sphere ... there's nothing wrong with suggesting other panels. A portion of our clients moved from cPanel to H-Sphere and love it, and some switched back. Whatever works for you, but be open minded

I've had a reseller account with Sonet7 for two years and the service and uptime is excellent. (Sonet7 is owned by Liquid Web and phone support is available should you need it.)

Harry, I have been pleased with KUALO at http://www.Kualo.com for about four years now. Over that time any and all support needs/questions I have had have been addressed fast and resolved. They are a UK based company with servers in UK, Canada, and USA. My account is located in Tampa and has been performing wonderfully. If you do a search for KUALO on WHT you will see a few other comments from others on WHT that use them.

HKC, for that kind of budget, it would not be difficult to find reasonably stable & reliable host. A few you may wish to check out are axishost, wirenine and dotable. All have reps here in WHT so you may pm them or head out to their websites and check out a few more info there. Happy hunting.

All the hosts mentioned here would be a decent choice. My only suggestion would be to select one that has been around for a few years. It sounds like at this point (with your experiences at Bliksem) you should value stability over price. Your budget is sufficient to sign-up with a quality host.

What you're looking for doesnt exist. Remeber bliksem got good reviews on WHT too so im not sure what can be trusted here. I just had reseller zoom emergency migrate some sites yesterday. Today, not a single site works. The ticket was replied as "all sites transferred, please check" so I check, not a single site works. In some cases, not a single file transferred, in every case, the entire database was not transferred or even created.

What does not exist? This... How can it not exist? It is very highly possible just that in the long run maybe 5-10 years is not possible because we can't read the future. There are hosts that have existed for a long time and is still providing reliable service.

Servers in Tampa! Sago's datacenter sits about 1,000 yards from the waters of Tampa Bay--built to withstand a hurricane they say. An Interstate bridge just 4 miles from my home was built to handle hurricanes, but in 2004 it was ripped apart by Hurricane Ivan. What datacenters could survive this? Bridge photo Why take the chance with a datacenter that is located in the hurricane zone? Sonet7's datacenter (Liquid Web) is located in Lansing Michigan an area with no history of natural disasters -- that's one of the reasons I selected them.

Funny you mention that Lindmar, as I was just about to write about the fact that most of the recent threads are not mentioning anything about another important by-product issue of this whole mess - DNS transfering! At this point I have given up hope that I will be able to recover any of my data, short of some miracle. However, I feel bad for some others, as I am lucky enough to have a back up of almost all my data with exception to some of the scripts that were created directly on the server. However, the bigger issue I am facing, and I am sure I am not alone, is that some of our Domain Names are locked by Bliksem, and considering as they are not responding to some of us, this can also turn into a nightmare. In my case, I had a slew of Domain names, and when I originally migrated to them 3 years ago (yes - I have been that loyal!) Monty originally stated that they appeared in WHOIS registries as being locked & owned by Javier & Bliksem only for the migration process, and that once all had transferred, an update would be sent for each to reflect me as the unlocked owner of them all, with exception to the Technical fields of each. True to his word, within weeks of migration, most were changed with exception to a few for some reason. Unfortunately, those few include my main level/primary domain name, and a couple of other important ones. And since Bliksem is not responding to everyone, you can imagine what predicament that is leaving me in. The question now is where do we go from here on this issue? As I said, the most heart wrenching thing is having been a customer so long, going through their up's & downs, and not being communicated with. Unlike some relatively few lucky people I have seen in some of the recent threads, I have not been so lucky as to receive their recent 'positioning statement' email regarding their recent problems. And judging from what I have seen in some of the other threads & other sites, I can truly say that I have not nearly harassed them as much as others. Most of my tickets have been for silly stuff like Password resets & such. Guess I am not a good customer either, though I am sure a host that wants to focus on retention would love my business. At this point I guess it is the wait & see game, but I have started to work on Plan-B, which may become Plan-A if I don't hear back from Jav & Bliksem soon. Maybe Santa or the Ghosts of Christmas past can help us, though I believe my son believes more in their powers now then I do at this point!

As one of many frustrated/disappointed soo-to-be-former clients of Bliksem, I've begun to look into the possibility of filing a class action or similar suit against the company. I spoke to an attorney in Miami and the first step is to obtain details about how many people out there have a claim against them, how many sites are affected, etc. What do the rest of the forum users think? Do we have the critical mass to go ahead? I doubt there's much financial compensation we can get, but I'd at least like to expose their fraudulent behaviour, get their principals into court and perhaps prevent them from pulling a similar stunt in future. Feedback?

We have an account at Hostdime for five months and glad from their services. The uptime of the server is very good. We can access to our sites and emails everytime. The support is fast. They resolve the problems quickly. Also they can upgrade your account to a VPS or a managed server if you wish at anytime. I recommend them.

at last,... I'm seeing someone who fights back. I like the idea very much, but what kind of details needed to be gathered? and as I check my billing record and their invoice, I don't see any dates stated there, which means there's no proof of the duration where their service is valid for. correct me if I'm wrong HKC

I've been a bit lucky in this case because I don't host my DNS with them, Just bought their hosting service. Let's just hope they have a heart to do the right thing, even if they only open a little window of opportunity, I would be grateful for that, once I got my file back, I won't even look back and forget everything that is happened in the past, and just go on. I am using Hostdime about 1.5-2 years. The uptime, performance of the servers is good. Their helpdesk is fantastic. I really suggest Hostdime.
