Hello, I'm new to this site and to the web hosting world. I plan to set up my business this week. I've given it a lot of thought and planning and although I haven't done this before I'm pretty sure I have enough tech knowledge to start alone and then if it all goes well hire help later on. I've registered my domain, designed a website for the biz and now I have to decide on a which reseller company to go with. I've herd good things and bad thing about most every reseller host out there, it's hard to find one that I'm comfortable with. I'd love to start out with a dedicated server but at this point it's not in the financial cards. I'm sure this has been asked a dozen times before, but if anyone has any reccomendations for good reseller companies I'm all ears. I want to go with one that has the best chance of providing my clients with great uptime, etc. and it's so hard to wade through the bazillions of them out there. I've read a lot of threads here on this subject, but again, it's hard to pick apart the truly good ones. Reliability is more important than price, but having said that I cannot afford to go with anything hugely expensive yet. I want to start small and work up. Again, any suggestions are appreciated. Depending on your budget really, but I would recommend ResellerZoom on this. We are not link to them or anything, We have one reseller with them and we are fairly satisfied. Zac

Welcome to WHT BlueDog! Good idea to start small and working your way up. Do you know how much storage and bandwidth you'll be needing to start off? I'm also curious as to what type of business you're setting up.

Reselling hosting services. To be honest I wanted to only focus on hosting pet related websites, since I design pet sites on the side as a hobby anyway and could offer this as an addition, but I'm not sure if that would be boxing myself in to such a small niche. Granted, having a niche is probably better than trying to get all of the internet I'm still not quite sure if I'll be doing that or not. I'm waffleing a lot. Must. Stop. Waffleing. I doubt I'll need more than 50gigs of bandwidth at first. For my own site, which gets about 4000 visits a month, I barely use 100 MB of storage and 3 gigs or so of bandwidth. I don't see the point of paying for a boatload of storage and bandwidth when I'm not even sure how many clients I'll be starting with and when most probably won't even come close to using all their resources. I can always upgrade when needed. I'd like to stay under $25 per month. Of course cheaper is always better provided it comes with reliability. And, I'm rambling now... Your needs are simple and your budget is more that enough for what you require. If you look in the offers section, you'll find many hosts that suits your needs. Please do some research on the company before ordering as many come back regretting not having done so. If you have more questions, post em here! Good luck! Thanks, I'll have a look in the offers section. Of course if anyone has some personal experience with a good host let me know please. I'd love some reccomendations as well.

Welcome to WHT BlueDog! You are smart for starting off small and building up. What type of OS are you looking to offer your clients? Linux? Windows? Both? Also keep in mind control panels while choosing your host.

Exactly, you can focus on a small segment and if you ever want to move up, you can do that aswell. You never know, what kind of usage your customers will have during the month. However, 50GB of bandwidth should be plenty for starting out. Yup that is 100% correct. When starting you want to cut prices as much as possible. No need paying for extra resources when you will not use them. As you stated, providers for the most part will allow you to upgrade your account with no fees. However, downgrading your account to a lower plan may involve a downgrade fee. So start off with what you think you will be using. That budget is just about right on target. Keep in mind not to base a purchase for reseller hosting soley on pricing. You want to make sure that company is going to get the job done for you.

Hello, In the begining you can start with the a small Reseller packages based on your requirements. There are many hosting companies which provides good reseller packages and better services. As your hosting company grows you can upgrade your reseller package or else you can upgrade to a good dedicated server. Thank you. Regards,

Well, I thought I found one I liked enough to start with but apperently they can't be bothered to answer email questions within a few hours. So I'm back to the drawing board. I think this time I'm going to email any potentials right away and see how long it takes them to get back to me. Should be a good indicator of future service I think.

Good plan. Get a feel of response times from sales to new prospects is great! I agree with you on the service indicator aswell. It will show for the most part who is customer centric.

I recommend Sonet7 for a reseller. Owned by the Liquid Web datacenter. Excellent uptime and support by ticket or phone.
