These guys are amazing. I've been working with them the past two days in moving a reseller account. Extremely helpfull, quick in communication and they know what they are doing. At one point, they even called ME. I was floored, it seems hosting companies don't even have a phone line, let alone call a customer. Each time I get ready to make a webhosting decision, I come here to see what others are saying. I'm happy to now come here and give praise to a company that truely deserves it. These guys care about the hosting biz, I recommend anyone to give them a shot. There website is very informative and they responded to my sales tickets quickly, within 30m. They treated me so well, I just want others to know.

I've seen a lot of reviews about BliksemHosting lately, and I'm impressed (even for a competitor). Come back in a few months and give us a review on their service

Posted by JSpired, 02-07-2005, 11:47 PM
I love Blick! I've been with them for some time now and can't say enough good things!

Posted by mtk-tech, 02-08-2005, 02:04 AM
I must agree with you there. My old host was considered one of the best on here when I signed up a year ago. As a matter of fact, its been exactly a year. I signed up on this forum before creating my acccount. I've been a member since Jan 2004.

Thank you kindly mtk-tech. We're super happy to have you with Bliksem Thank you also JSpired Our top priority is customer satisfaction and it's great to see a long time client still taking the time to praise our service.

Congrats BlikWerk for the awesome reviews. Just wondering, how did you come up with the name Bliksemhosting? It's not a name you see everyday

Posted by ldcdc, 03-12-2005, 08:35 PM
I don't know if this really helps, but I remember their representative saying that Bliksem means lightning in Dutch.

Posted by xyzulu, 03-13-2005, 06:28 AM
That is correct... my limited Dutch skills at least allow me to confirm that.....

Posted by BlikWerk, 03-13-2005, 10:22 AM
That is correct Dan and Brad. Bliksem is Dutch for lightning. Thanks!

Well I am still happy so far.. one of my clents is too big for there Shared Reseller Server so moving that one client to a semi-dedicated lol They have a huge message board about 3500 plus members.. the site it self loads the server about 2 or 3 at times. which is alot they said i uses 10% of the cpu one site.. meh they are growing to fast and I am just gonna make them pay for the semi-dedicated lol.. unless they want to split it with me hehe anway very great company and a great team

Posted by mc-2000, 03-25-2005, 07:17 AM
they permit overselling..isnt it? if yes, how do they handle it?

Posted by BlikWerk, 03-25-2005, 08:38 PM
We allow disc space overselling by default and bandwidth overselling by request. This only allows you to allocate more space and bandwidth than what your plan comes with in order to gain full use from your reseller account. You can't use more disc space or bandwidth than what your plan includes, however. We maintain strict resource limitations to avoid overloading our servers.

I was looking for a good reseller host about a month ago, read good things about Bliksem, and signed up. I'm glad I did. So far, so good. They've been very quick with support and are accomodating. As far as I am concerned, they're a keeper.

any updates? any other bliksem clients out here? just wannna coz i just notice latley thier website was down for a couple of hours..any other feedback?

Posted by BlikWerk, 03-31-2005, 06:23 AM
Hello, Our website wasn't down for a couple of hours. We have been conducting late night maintenance on one server, however no services had been affected except for a 10 minute interval (not 2 hours). If you have issues reaching any of our sites please contact our support department

Posted by mc-2000, 03-31-2005, 07:10 AM
im using siteuptime and host tracker...the total(not continous) downtime was more or less 1-2 hours but as this is "not reliable" as some reviews says here.. im more inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt.. as you said its just 'few mins' downtime so in that case thats good for you. posting a reply right away here says something about your service....its a good impression. im looking at 3-5 resllers last week.. yesterday it was down to 3.. now wiht your reply...its down to 2

Posted by chattersbox, 04-17-2005, 01:31 AM
Well I have been with them for over a month, they are very great. I have a reseller account and a Semi-Dedicated Server Account. All my clients but one are on the reseller one, due to the one on Semi-Ded is a big community. I have the uptime site posted on this board, Just search for post by me and you will find it. Don't want to advertise or solicit. Anyway No downtime noticed by me, my clients or by third party monitoring. There is the once in awhle reboot on semi-ded. Which is no problem. To the review! 1. The have great service 2. Support is very friendly, fast and helpful. 3. Uptime is to the T. Past providers has yet to surpass Bliksem. 4. Servers are fast, 5. Very great pricing. You really get the bang for your buck. I have nothing negative to say about them at this point. Will update in 2 months.

Hi yor are wrong !!! i stay with bliksem DEC/2004 nnever LONG downtime i am very happy !!!! Downtime = 5-10min for reboot / maintenance monthly ( NOT ALL MONTH, this year 2005 aprox. <40min down (not continous ) I think your siteuptime check every 30min = not real stats siteuptime check every 5min it`s better and i NOT receive anything questions for downtime form my clients, and I never see DOWN the server, i know downtime with stats check every 5min...... Blisksem company and people = serius host very good person Good server ( hardware & software ) load average it`s very good NOT OVERLOAD KEEP ON BLIKSEM FOXMEN

I have been looking for semi-dedicated hosting, and Bliksem looked like a really good possibility for me, but while I was in the process of signing up for hosting, I saw this in their TOS: Huh? Those are rather strange requirements, but I guess I'll have to go with another host. Could someone from Bliksem shed some light on why this is in the TOS?

Posted by BlikWerk, 05-26-2005, 10:14 PM
Hello Krang, Thanks for posting. We appreciate you reading our TOS prior to signing up. We do allow gamer/gamer related sites and anime related sites on VPS or dedicated plans due to the dedicated environment that they provide (IE: will not affect other domains on the servers). The decision to not accept gamer related sites on any shared platform came after we had several, not just one, gamer related sites cause issues with our servers. We have several businesses (resellers, real estate firms, law offices, etc) running on our servers and we have a responsibilty to these clients to maintain the integrity of our servers. We hold our servers' uptime and speed as paramount. We have found that gamer related sites, in our experience, caused more issues than we find to be acceptable in terms of load, monitoring, resource usage, attracting hacks and attacks. We certainly understand that this isn't the case with all gamer related sites. In fact, we still host a handful of gamer related sites that joined Bliksem before this restriction was put into place and have never caused issues. But they are the minority. We intended to leave this as a case by case basis and even recently allowed a gamer related site on a server (reseller account) only to have to suspend the account due to misuse (unacceptable content). This resulted in continuous threats of negative press by the offending party. At this point, we simply prefer to not host any additional gamer/gaming related sites. If you have further questions about our policies, please feel free to email sales or give us a call.

I'm really interested but i'm getting high pings - 668ms, why is that?

Posted by jcwhosting, 05-27-2005, 08:41 AM
I have been with Bliksemhosting for the last 6 months. I started out with a reseller account. The uptime and support was excellent. No downtime what so ever. I think the worst was about 10 min of downtime for the whole month. I then upgraded to a semi-dedicated server. still support was excellent. I had no more than a few minutes a month downtime. I also recently upgraded to a VPS. I can tell you that they are one of the best hosting companies out there. and I recommend them to anyone. Regards. Johan

Posted by 3dx, 05-27-2005, 04:34 PM
I've been with Bliksem for, well, going on 8 months now? I started with a semi-dedicated and now have 3 dedicated boxes through them. You won't find a better, more efficient hosting company out there than Bliksem Hosting. Their staff is friendly and supportive, and not only willing, but wanting to help resolve any problem that might arise. I'll make this my 8 month review - I've been hosting sites since geocities was trendy and you used to be proud to have an "address" there (remember when your site used to be like 518 Technical Road? and blinking text and gawdy backgrounds were the norm?). I've gone through a few companies in my time, and none of them can compare to Bliksem.

Todd and Johan: Thank you for sharing your reviews with WHT. It is very much appreciated

I read their TOS, AUP ...etc. It seems that there are charges attached to works like moving account , once you have signed up with them over and stayed over X period of time. Is this a standard practise ?

Posted by zeryx, 06-03-2005, 01:08 PM
They have great support, one small drawbacks that leans on the side of being more secure, if you set a forum on these be aware that some keywords may trigger an error, this is due to filtering to trap some security hacks, namely the word lynx, if any post contains that test it will generate an error 505 (IIRC) and also the following string <..."> excluding the brackets, it took me 2 days to track this, and i after contacting them they acknoledge it and cannot change it for security reasons, i can live with it, just be aware any form posting these strings would generate the error. Hi , are you saying if I setup a forum under my reseller account, the above security settings applies or does it applies to all the websites setup in their server? This is something they did not put on their site to make ppl aware of the limitation on their services. Joshua

Posted by BlikWerk, 06-04-2005, 12:51 AM
Thanks to all that have had good things to say about BliksemHosting. It's very much appreciated and rewarding to see that our efforts have not gone unnoticed. Just to clarify a few things. We host over 1500 domains across several servers. Our security settings, do not affect the majority of Web sites, forums or other scripts. We do enforce strict resource limits on shared and reseller hosting which is clearly outlined in our TOS, however. This is hardly a "limitation on our service" as we've never had a cancellation that cited "my site will not work on your servers." However, this is precisely why we offer a 30 day money back guarantee so that potential customers can make sure that our services satisfy their needs. There are no hidden charges at all for moving accounts or other courtesies. Some items we charge for, some are offered free. But all costs are clearly outlined. Thanks!

Hi Blik, Your site indicates that we get response from your support in less than 30 minutes. Is there a TOS clause that says if your response is greater than 30 minutes, what happens? Anyway, I am just curious to know this since your TOS is quite detail about everything. what is the average response time that you have now to client/reseller support? Joshua

Posted by BlikWerk, 06-04-2005, 06:39 AM
Hello Joshua, Our site states This is an average and doesn't mean that every ticket is answered in under 30 minutes. Some may be answered in an hour, others in 5 minutes. Our average response time overall is under 30 minutes as most of the threads about us on WHT can attest to. If you have any further questions about our services please send an email to sales as we don't normally use WHT threads to answer sales or support questions. Thank you.

I've left them.... Started with reseller for a month, then semi-dedicated for a month... I've mailed them that I would be cancelling my account and I didn't even get a reply saying "Bye" or anything... which I found rather rude... I guess politeness disappears once you stop paying... The main reason that I left was their inability to restore a 200mb database. When they tried to restore it almost crashed their server a few times and filled up the partition allocated for MySQL on that server almost completely. They told me that this domain would require its own dedicated server and it's not fit for a shared environment and so on... Following their advice I got myself a VPS, restored this database (that they couldn't for a few days) in 20 minutes and moved the rest of my accounts over to the VPS and it's been running fine ever since... There are a few other small things, related to server config that I did not like.... like for example all accounts default catch-all email is the username and not ":fail" or ":blackhole" so all the junk mail gets collected and takes up space, when I emailed them asking to change this they told me they wouldn't and I have to do it manually for every domain that I have.....

Posted by zeryx, 06-04-2005, 11:55 AM
Just make sure that the information on particular string passed as a post or get can cause this is in the FAQ and the online info, it would save some coder some hassle trying to figure out the problem, especially since it would show intermitently on a forum type situation. Doing it to insure the server stays secure is fine by me, but i keep discovering new strings that causes it, the <..."> being the most recent one, and it seems this forum has no problem with it.

Posted by BlikWerk, 06-04-2005, 12:02 PM
Hello PvUtrix, From what I recall, we restored your database several times free of charge, which we gladly did for you. The issue arose when your site was up and running. It caused intense load. You were warned several times prior to taking a semi-dedicated account after the issues it caused on a standard reseller account, that we felt this required a dedicated environment, be it a VPS or dedicated server. You opted to go with a semi-dedicated and your database again caused issues, causing us to suspend your site after repeated warnings. I'm glad you took our advice and went with a VPS, which has obviously served your resource intensive needs better than a shared environment. At the time, we didn't offer VPS, but even suggested it with an alternate provider because we felt it would better serve you.

Posted by PvUtrix, 06-04-2005, 12:22 PM
You restored the database for the old forum engine a few times, and the old engine (phorum.org, very old version) which was about 120mb caused server load spikes and caused problems, I understood that and I've managed to convert the whole database to use phpbb and the database increased to 200mb (400mb mysql dump, cut into 8 80mb parts). This NEW database you never managed to restore (it was causing huge server load when you tried, CPPOP failed and some other serivices failed on the server and you aborted the restore when there were 2 80mb pieces left) and removed all which was restored to free up some space on the mysql partition because it was full... Anyway I managed to restore this database on my VPS in 20 min. and the server load never went above 2... and the forum is running perfectly now and the load it generates it not that intensive at all now... this account is consuming not more than 2% of CPU and memory... I wish you all the best...

Found another keyword that generates an error 505 this one WTCC just anothyer one that cannot be posted in a bliksem form.

Hello Zeryx, We cannot provide support for an issue you may be having via a third party forum. Our account liaison has already emailed you over 24 hours ago to try and assist you with any certain issues that you may be having with your account. She has yet to hear back from you. Thank you.

It must have fallen in my spam box, not sure why, sorry i don't see it as support, i am satisfied with your service, just pointing issues i encountered. You provided me the support a while back and your stand was you would not touch it since it was security related and did not want to impact your server security settings and i understood it. Have her/him email me again at elavoie_AT_zeryx_DOT_com. Honestly your support and service has been pretty good considering the cost of the service.

Please remove this thread about Bliksem. They are criminals as evidenced by the mass amounts of thread about how they've intentionally stolen from 100's of customers. Thank you, David Jay http://bliksemfraud.blogspot.com/

Hi My site was down yesterday also, I came here to see if there a problem, I seen the threads, I also seen new ip , I entered the changed ip and everything is working today. I refused to jump on the bash bandwagon, Why ? I have been with Bilk for almost 3 years now and yesterday was the first problem I ever had with the company, and I'm sure it was my fault as SBC/ATT flags alot of my legit email as spam. Bilk has been the first Rock Solid service I've had and have come to a place where I don't worry about them, as they always worn if there is a reboot or any maintence about to happen. I want to Publicly thank them for outstanding service. They have been more than kind when dealing with me and also upgraded me to semi for minimal cost. I understand some peoples fustration when there site goes down but as an owner you deal with it by contacting customers and tell them unforseen things happen, I'm a Mechanic by trade and devloped an ulcer which put me out the past few days at work, I have cars on the hoist right now, customer were called and the reaction was I hope you feel better. Nobody took an ad out in the paper bashing me for something that was beond my control. I'm just saying nobody or machine is 100% perfect. But when it comes to hosting Bilk is about as close as you get, These guys really care! This has been my experence with them Thank you Bilk for great service. Pete Fitzpatrick

Posted by davidjay, 12-15-2006, 12:44 PM
Pete - do yourself a favor and move your sites to a new server. Javier is a criminal and your sites will go down and you'll lose everything. As soon as his hosting subscription runs out for the server you're on it's all gone. Why do you think he collected money early from everyone? It's so he wouldn't have to pay another year but still get the money for it. This is not a mistake by Javier and Bliksem everyone - this is a purposeful and thoughtout crime. If it was simply a mistake he would at least still be checking his bliksem email which he is not. Nor has a responded to repeated attempts by my attorney just to recover data. It's nice of you to be loyal but move your stuff asap or lose it. Cheers, DJ

Hello, I'm curious. All Bliksemhosting sites are down for the last 2-3 days. What is the IP you talked about? Ed

My site was down yesterday also, I came here to see if there a problem, I seen the threads, I also seen new ip , I entered the changed ip and everything is working today." Could you tell to us, in more details, what does mean changed ip? I didnt receive any email or alert from bliksem.. I think that something gonna be wrong.

HI 69.16.252.204 I logged into godaddy last night and changed my ip to that address and today it was up. last night I could log into whm from that ip. I did bk up everything just in case. Like I said I never had a problem with blik , I think they lost a server once but it was fixed in a day. I feel bad for everyone who can't log in to bk up, It has happen to me before about 5 years ago with a different host. I only host 10 domains so I do manual bk up from each domain. I wish I knew more where I could do it from within whm for all my sites. I really hope Blik helps you recover your data, like I said they always treated me great. Just to be clear I don't know them personaly nor do I work for them, just listing my experence. I sincerly hope you guys recover your data. Take care Pete

Posted by ArsMagnaWeb, 12-15-2006, 06:25 PM
Dear Tech2, I think you did not understant the situation, Bliksemhosting is no more. Most of their customers, myself included, lost all their sites. It seems their owners disapeared. Ed

Posted by Swelly, 12-15-2006, 06:27 PM
Well the IP still works and the cpanel license is back online for those of you wanting to get your files off. You have the data at your disposal, get it.

Posted by ArsMagnaWeb, 12-15-2006, 08:27 PM
Hi, Can you list the IPs that are working? My old IP is dead. I've tried whm, cpanel, ssh without any results. Ed

Posted by Swelly, 12-15-2006, 08:30 PM
69.16.252.204 This IP works good for me. Plus the the cpanel license is valid.
