Is my website blocked with your ISP?

Posted by GeertBurg, 04-02-2012, 11:04 AM
Hey all, I have a website for an online game: achtungdiekurve dot net . It is running on a dedicated server, with only a few websites on it, which I all manage. I have a webdesign company, with which I build websites for costumers, like a lawyer, a theater group, some other designers, web shops, etc. Nothing weird. However, I have some strong hints that achtungdiekurve dot net is blocked by one or more ISP's in the UK. I have got this idea, because Moneybookers can't access my website, and I can't send emails to Moneybookers (although I can receive emails from Moneybookers). The emails I send all return with a mail delivery timeout. So what I want to know from you, is whether you can access the website, and if NOT, which ISP you have, and what the results are of a traceroute to my ip: 109 dot 70 dot 4 dot 6 . Hope someone can help me with this very annoying problem. Best regards, Geert

How about a traceroute from your server to Moneybookers?

hey, I did a traceroute from my site to all ip adresses of moneybookers. From the 18 moneybookers ip's, all where reachable, except for one. It faltered somewhere near to moneybookers (I think in their datacenter). Is that helpfull? Best regards, Geert

Where exactly does the traceroute to this IP break? Do a traceroute from another server or from your PC to see the last hops in full. If it stops 1-2 hops before it reaches the actual server, I guess Moneybookers has blocked the whole IP block from your provider. If you didn't do anything, it's unlikeley that it's just your IP. In this case, contact your provider, so he can contact MoneyBookers and their DC to unblock his IP space.

Seems fine here.. ping achtungdiekurve.net PING achtungdiekurve.net (109.70.4.6) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from srv1.gburg.nl (109.70.4.6): icmp_req=1 ttl=56 time=18.6 ms 64 bytes from srv1.gburg.nl (109.70.4.6): icmp_req=2 ttl=56 time=12.2 ms Ive also tested from two other large ISP's here in the UK and seems fine.. ping achtungdiekurve.net Translating "achtungdiekurve.net"...domain server (194.168.4.100) [OK] Type escape sequence to abort. Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 109.70.4.6, timeout is 2 seconds: !!!!! Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 36/39/44 ms

Hey, I compared the tracert results from my laptop with that when doing a tracert on the server. It fails on exactly the same ip, very near to moneybookers (in their datacenter). It fails with a request time out.

You can use host-tracker.com to check website availability from different countries.

Ping/ check connectivity to their mail server listed in their MX records. Their mail servers may be blocking your server's IP address but their web servers could be allowing traffic just fine.

Then you can be particular that it's just Moneybookers who are blocking your IP (range) and not an ISP. Contact your hosting provider and/or Moneybookers.

You can use the dig command tool in Linux to look it up. Here you go: bvpn1.moneybookers.com points to 193.105.47.8 bvpn2.moneybookers.com points to 193.105.47.9 vpn1.moneybookers.com points to 91.208.28.8
