HDD Free Space

Posted by harrisonv, 05-28-2012, 08:53 PM
Hey Guys! So I have a few nodes, and keep Intel 120GB SSD's in them. I am hosting Minecraft, and I know when 1 server has an issue it can make a 50GB error log overnight. Is their any way to get email alerts or something either every night with free disk space, or when you have 15GB HDD left? I am on linux. Let me know if you guys have any ideas. Thanks

Absolute yes. You can create cronjob for this script:

This is a trivial thing to do, but do no just use the EXAMPLE script given it has a few problems! this is a job for our monitoring solution - you have a few nodes, so I just assume that they are important enough for you to have monitoring in place on them? Personally, I use cacti and set thresholds for exactly this scenario - and yes, I get an e-mail if threshols are exceeded, which sounds to be exacly what you are after.

install logwatch on your server and you will get everyday a summary report along with disk details.
