Looking for a hosting company for my needs

Posted by NikolayM, 04-16-2009, 06:21 AM
Hello, Here is my needs and i will like you to recommend me a company which will meet them. What i need is: 1. Company which does not oversell. I am currently with a company which does not oversell(atleast not that much), so i want to keep it that way. 2. Location should be in Europe and to be exact, it should be somewhere near to Germany. 3. Really important thing. My clients do not host illegal content, but there is some clients with a websites which contain warez linking material. The websites are not something really huge. Most of them are just local. 4. I will need around 50GB HDD and 1TB of traffic per month. I am ready to pay 30-40USD/month for that. 5. The support is very important. Why i am considering moving from the company which i buy host from is simply because of the support team, so before i choose, the most important thing will be the support quality of the company. 6. I would like to have cPanel/WHM to control the accounts. Well guys, I think that this describe what i am looking for. Now i hope that you can help me find a better place to host my clients. If you need more details, just let me know.

It's unlikely you'll find a host providing good support for $30/$40 a month for 50GB webspace and 1TB bandwidth. Say you wanted to just pay $30 for only the bandwidth, that would work out 3cents per GB! And you don't want them to oversell? Add to the fact you want it to be a reseller at those resources, looks like you basically want a fully managed server capable of producing good results while paying a small portion of the price. I would say at least double your monthly budget.

I hope you do understand that if i ask for 50GB HDD and 1TB of traffic, it does not mean that i will use exact all of this. Now i am paying around 35USD/month and i am using only 300GB of traffic per month. I am asking for 1TB, just in case if the business grow up. Also i would like to mention that most of the providers in Europe have low cost BW and therefor they are selling "Unlimited" traffic series which can burst atleast 10TB/month and quad core with that traffic will cost around 150USD/month. I won't start making calculations here to check the companies profit. My point is that in this region, the BW does not cost that much like in the States. The problem is that i can not find a provider which can offer me that good support. I am not asking for 24/7. I am just in need of support which CARE. Most of the companies here care only untill they grow up.

It doesn't matter how much you intend to use, it's how much you're paying for, in essence, your right to use that amount. I believe you're going to have difficulty in finding a company for that budget and offer the support you're after.. All the best with your search..

A VPS would be most viable but it will be hard to find a quality managed solution with your budget, you'll definitely have to raise it to maybe $60 - $75/mo.

Most host wont do it you should up your budget a good 35 - 40 $ or contact a host that will make a custom plan.

You can't find a reputable provider with such a low budget and such high requirements. Only something horribly oversold.

Well, the price was not the biggest problem on the first place. If it is that big problem then i will decrease the traffic and the space to 20GB HDD and 600GB of traffic per month and i am ready to pay up to 40USD/month. I just need a good provider. That's it.

In my opinion it matters not whether the sites have one visitor a a month or 10 thousand, Warez linking is illegal (i am only speaking for the UK) and i think that you will struggle to find a host to offer all of that for such a low price without overselling.

How big is your website ?

This has little to do with BW prices being oh so minuscule in Europe. It's still overselling fueled. Even leaving aside the BW prices, a decent server will cost your host say $500, but it is very unlikely it will ever be able to push 10Tb of real website traffic. From what I have observed, a single thread tends to yield a limited amount of hosts being mentioned. Take a bit of your leisure time and browse this forum section for an hour or so, read threads and look for hosting customer comments. Jot down the name of any host that is being recommended. Then run a search http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php and see if the good opinion is confirmed by most other customers.

My advice would be to lower your requirements and then go with a more realistic plan - get some clients to cover the cost and then upgrade/move providers as necessary until you can afford your own fully managed dedicated server and just keep growing from there. There is no need to start out with huge resources and paying a huge amount of money every month.

This is the best way of doing things, Plus it will allow you to save some money which can be used for other things to improve your site.

Honestly, i am a bit disappointing. Almost all of you are saying that my budget is too low, but when i check your services, you are offering almost the same specification for -+5USD, with the difference of the location. I am start thinking that most of you don't even know providers in Germany. Let's do it like that. I need 20GB HDD and 200GB of traffic per month. I am ready to pay 100USD/month. Now let's see if i have to decrease my needs again... And by the way, Q6600, 1TB HDD and 8GB of RAM with unlimited traffic cost 200USD. I don't know if this is decent server for you and how much clients like me it can handle, but it is far away from 500USD/month. edit.. I've already checked the offers. Th meaning of posting was because my problem is not that i can't find a provider. My problem is that i don't want to go with a provider for who i don't know anything. That's why is this forum alive. To ask others who have experience with the providers in that area.
