Alright I've been thinking about this granted each has its pros and cons.. With your local email its all in one spot with your external if your sites offline people are still able to get a hold of you which makes it a bit better.. What do you think ?

Honestly it depends for me on the infrastructure you have to host your stuff and if the features of your own email system meets your needs. I am a fan of Google Mail for small business and like the calendar, drive and other features. I also like Exchange so it just really depends on your needs.

In case if you use DNS of your hosting provider and their DNS services goes down then in this case your emails will go down even if you use external email service. If emails are very much critial for you then use third party DNS service as well so that if your hosting providers DNS goes down your email service will still work. Google Apps is an excellent option of external email service.
