idea for backup mx for cPanel

Hi All, Would it be possible to configure a backup mail server to allow all mail in to be queued and configure postfix to only send out to specified server IPs? The idea here is to not have to manage an allowed relayers list and just let the primary mx do the sorting from the backup once back online. I.e any mail > backup mx > specified primary mx > accept or reject. Hope this makes sense.

with cpanel exim, you can configure all your emails through backup mail server and emails to specific domains through another server.

cpanel is not required in backup server. Just install exim in that server.

No, you do not require cPanel to be installed on backup mail server. Just install/configure Exim on backup mail server and you are good to go. Please make sure that you specify secondary MX record on primary DNZ zone for all your domains.

There's already a plugin by NDCHost that does this: http://www.ndchost.com/cpanel-whm/plugins/smx/ They offer it either as a hosted solution (they provide the VPS) or as self-hosted solution (you install the plugin on one of your cPanel DNS-only servers).

Thanks, This is what I was trying to achieve but without monthly fees. Thanks again.
