master reseller accounts
Posted by dominik699, 02-27-2010, 06:01 PM |
Hello,
I am searching for an Master Reseller Account.
Important:
- it must be reliable (shouldn't suspend the account without reason)
- pretty fast
- small plans for beginning
- bigger plans to grow
Would be glad if anybody could post resellers you have a good experience with.
Thanks a lot
Dominik

I would generally advise against master resellers because most likely, the server is oversold and if the host doesn't manage it properly, the clients suffer. And for all you know, your host could be an alpha master reseller. And it's just too many levels to go through to get any decent support.
If you want to offer reseller packages yourself, I'd recommend you get a VPS or dedicated server. The reliability and stability is far better with vps/dedicated than master resellers.

Hi,
Why not go for VPS? It's more easier to handle and control everything if you compare to Master reseller..

hi
thanks for your tips.
i know that the performane of master reselling is not the best.
But I want to sell reseller accounts to webdesigners. more about my plan you can read in the following thread:
showthread.php?t=929863
I know that the performance of an vps is better, but then i have to setup everything myself. I don't want to do this at the moment.
I have found one: aquariusstorage
What do you think?

You don't have to set up everything. If you get a managed or even a semi-managed VPS, your host can set up everything up for you initially. Like cPanel and all the basics you need to run.
As for aquariusstorage, I have no exp with them but they should have some reviews here. Feel free to search them.

For easier way, go for Managed VPS, everything will be setup for you and if you have any problem, just open the support tickets and they look and solve your problem..and you can focus on your business.

You want to offer master reseller accounts ? I would advise against that as well because you'd only put yourself and your server at risk of being oversold, not by you, but by the two levels of resellers under you.
Check the VPS offers section, you should find something. What kind of a budget do you have?
Note: most providers don't provide cPanel for free with VPS. Average price is around $15/month. And master reseller softwares are another license and I don't think any provider provides that with their vps packages. You'd probably have to supply the license yourself if you choose this path.

Yes but when i limit the space of the reseller packages i sell to a minimum the danger that it gets oversold is not that high.
So i will have to setup the master reselling plugin myself. is this a lot of work?

Probably not, I'm sure if you ask your host they'll help. I've never done it myself though.

Unmanaged VPS provider might not help you install any plugin unless your purchase it through them. Most Fully-Managed company or company which offer managed services should be able to help you install 3rd parties softwares.

i always thought when i have a vps I have full root acess to the server and have to do everything myself. Then I also have full responsibility over the server. I have basic knowlede of linux but I cannot guarantee that this server is 100% save against hackers. That's the reason I was looking for a reseller account.

If you have enough budget, you should go for MANAGED VPS or VPS with Management services. They will take care of your servers for you and will install anything you want.
Based on my experiences, I feel I've gain more experiences by starting by a VPS.

you are certainly right
but i think for me the reseller hosting is the better thing to start. I have very low budget now. When things start working and I have my first customers I can think about this again.
Can you backup the data from an reseller account easily, so that I can move?

If you're currently in a cPanel account, it would be easy as a pie to move accounts.
and Yes, start off a small and turn big

for me its clear that for good service and reliable hosting you will have to pay a fair price.
I have found two hosts at the master reselling hosts at the moment:
aquarius storage - in the forum some thing it is good, others say it is bad
and magmahost.com - most of the people think it is bad.
does anyone know any other hosts? what do you think about the two above?
|

I have no experiences with any of this two host. But I have a reseller account with EZPZ Hosting.
You get free domain, free upgrades, free SSL and also additional access to WHMPHP(which enables you to resell reseller)

thanks for the recomondation.
do you host on usa or uk servers. Is the support good and the server stable? how long do you host with them.

US, Los Angeles server(This is a new location offered by them)
Their support respond times will usually be less than 1 Hour and I can say that their server is super stable. My site loads faster in their server rather than my VPS. I've been a customer for almost a week. Oh ya, they even offer FREE WHMCS or CLIENTEXE license which cost about $15 monthly.

sounds pretty good,
although a week is not that long :-), who knows what will happen
does anybody know anything about the server in uk, for me this would be more intresting, since I am from europe

A VPS box has less possibility to overload by the provider when a master reseller provider has possibility to have around 1 Million httpd.conf entries even if they don't provide unlimited space/bandwidth. Facing such situation would be really tough for any master reseller provider when the issue will arise after 2/3 years. Moreover, VPS overloading is restricted based on the container which allows the customer to be more secure from overloading by other shared users (when the value is really high). Cpanel itself suggests not to host more than 1000 distinct cpanel accounts under same server as the whole technology of cpanel isn't made based on such number of accounts. You might have a good number of cpu, memory and IO power, but cpanel can perform weird when the account grows to huge and multiple users using WHM to create, modify, terminate, suspend accounts and system quotas.

Can you cite this 1,000 account limit where cPanel has verified this please?
|
Posted by mellow-h, 02-28-2010, 12:19 PM |
It should clearly say "Suggests", not "limits". This was informed to me by the cpanel level 3 technicians when I asked for some suggestion regarding improving the apache graceful restarts and cpanel accounts caches.

hello,
i believe you that vps is certainly better and they don't get overloaded that easily. But firstly they are more work and more expensive.
I think the reseller account from ezpz are all master reseller accounts and I mainly read good things about them in the forum.
Does anybody host at ezpz? are they overloaded?
Any other suggestions for master reseller accounts?

I got to agree with that. Master resellers cause problems and no wonder many web hosts servers crash the accounts just spiral out of control.
