HostGator, or some other provider?

Posted by nikentic, 09-14-2010, 03:54 PM
Hello! I've read about some providers. I first went for GreenGeeks.com, but there was a lot of problems with confirmation & such, so I asked for a refund. Then I remembered HostGator. Are they to prefer if you think of Reseller Hosting? 50GB Disk Space 500GB Bandwidth Unlimited accounts Free WHMCS + WHM. It sounds good, and I've heard a lot of good stuff about them. Or is there some other good provider? And how many sites can I host with those specifications.

I tried HostGator a long time ago and thought it was a very good service. The best thing about them by far was their 24x7 support, during peak times it wouldn't take more than a minute to get a chat technician. They also have a money back guarantee I believe. The amount of sites will depend on how much space you allocate to each site, and how much space each of those accounts actually uses. I may be mistaken but I believe they didn't allow overselling accounts, might want to check with them on that. Good luck!

1 for HG. Been using them for years, and I have get to have a bad experience. Good all-around host (fpr Reseller, I haven't tried VPS / Dedicated)

Hostgator is normally a top choice for people when being compared to other hosts. Now, the amount of accounts will depend on how you divide those resources among your customers. For example, if you get 50GB of space and offer 10GB to your customers, you should host 5 accounts including your own website, so basically 4 clients (depends how much resources you give your own account). You should play around with this to get the best results. If a host allowed overselling, you could add more, but I don't believe Hostgator allows this, and if used incorrectly could cause more harm than good.

i am also at hg for many years and i am in general terms satisfied.BUT my reseller server crawls from load and there is nothing i can do...they think loads 20.00+ or even more are acceptable in a reseller so i have a big problem because my clients do not consume much traffic but they have problems with the loads..I am trying to find something more expensive but not stuffed up with clients ...

Hi DVD_GR, Can you provide me with a ticket number on this issue? I'm in our monitor now and we don't have a single server out of 3,000+ shared and reseller boxes with a 20+ average. We definitely wouldn't think 20 is acceptable. Please let me know. thanks!

ticket id : DBU-13385395 you will see that i made manyyyy tickets to get someone to admit that someone was abusing the server. if you see my traffic you will see how low bandwidth i consume ) right now there is no load of course but everytime it had if i did not report no-one did anything i will keep reporting but you should not overload reseller servers )

I've been monitoring your server for the last hour and have not seen any issues. The load seems to hover around 3 at this time. I'm going to pm you to see if I can figure out exactly what's going on for you. thanks!

I also suggest you check out Site5. They have very good reviews, and are well established.

CogentHost we don't actually do what you posted. We tried it for a few days on couple of our servers before deciding to remove it. There was an optout box that was preselected, but the majority of people didn't read so of course didn't uncheck.

I recommend Hostdime and Surpasshosting. We have reseller accounts on their servers for years. Their support is fast and friendly.
