looking for a good hosting reseller with overselling enabled. ($20/month budget)

Posted by rodrigo olivares, 05-27-2011, 10:40 AM
Well, my budget has changed, now is $20/month, and I'm looking a good reseller plan, I saw hostgator and hostclear and I liked them a lot, but they don't offer overselling, my clients use low bandwitch, so they will never exceed the bandwitch limit (500GB) but here in my country if I don't offer unlimited bandwitch, no one buy, so I need recomendation of a decent reseller hosting with overselling enabled. Thanks.

Hello, So you will be only looking for unlimited bandwidth providing hosting companies, right? Besides, larger hosting companies I am not sure how much reliable will be others who provide Unlimited Bandwidth and disk space. Anyways Good Luck.

no, I'm looking for a decent hosting reseller with overselling enabled, even a plan of 100 GB bandwitch works for me, because my clients use very low monthly bandwitch.

You may want to check with any hosting provider that you are interested in beforehand if you want to offer unlimited space and bandwidth plans. Most reseller providers only allow you to create unlimited features plan and not disk space or bandwidth, even with Overselling enabled.

You have a nice budget and I advise you to check reseller offers first http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=130.

I've checked that, but I prefer to ear a recommendation from you guys. seems to me that there is a lot of lies in that advertisement forum.

Rodrigo: If you can eliminate the requirement for Overselling, here are three (3) providers I have on a very short list. I am contemplating moving, from the two (2) cPanel Shared Accounts I have now, to a cPanel Reseller account, for my personal web sites, so I can keep each domain isolated from the others. My current provider (9 1/2 years with them) no longer offers Reseller accounts. Here's the list of providers I am looking at. I believe they all have very good reputations here on WHT: (1) Hostgator (2) MDDHosting (3) HawkHost I believe HawkHost is the least expensive of them. GL

There are NO lies in the Advertisement Forum. I am sure that they will word it in such a way where it is attractive to you but they DO NOT lie. You just have to find out if it's what you need or not only. That's the most important part of it all.

I disagree, for example magmahost offers a great deal, but in reviews in this very same site, lots of users says awful things about them, so I can't trust in advertisement. can you please help me and recommend one reseller?

Posted by aodat2, 05-27-2011, 12:40 PM
Reviews are reviews... lies in advertisement is not the same as that. Then why not look at HostGator or MDDHosting? They are good. Even Semoweb is not bad as well.

As I said in my first post I'm looking for a reseller with overselling enabled. HostGator has it disabled and don't know about MDDHosting

In most cases, any web host that is overselling themselves (like HG), will not have overselling enabled. Your best bet will be to look for web-hosts that are not overselling themselves, but allow their reseller clients to oversell their packages.

Posted by rodrigo olivares, 05-27-2011, 12:53 PM
ok, and could you please name me those resellers? it would be great.

Posted by Forward Web, 05-27-2011, 12:56 PM
Some providers I have come across here on WHT who do not appear to be overselling their servers along with generally getting good reviews are Hawkhost, MDD hosting, STablehost and downtownhost. Not entirely sure if all of them have overselling enabled for thier reseller clients, but the above companies should be a good start for you.

great, I will ask them, thanks!

Or look for provider that do very little overselling and have overselling disabled for their clients = much better uptime/performance, etc. @rodrigo, so you need at least 100 GB of bandwidth? What about diskspace?

Posted by rodrigo olivares, 05-27-2011, 03:18 PM
Not wath I need, I need to have overselling enabled for my account.

Posted by Forward Web, 05-27-2011, 03:23 PM
Not necessarily, because if the provider is holding each reseller accountable to their disk-space/bandwidth, it really wont matter what the reseller is offering (as long as the provider is not overselling themselves). The key is to find reseller packages that are not being oversold. Most companies I run into that do not have overselling enabled are overselling themselves (which is why they have overselling disabled for their clients). Personally, I think its crucial to allow reseller clients to oversell their web hosting packages. Otherwise it makes it rather difficult for that reseller to create a competitive web hosting service. From a providers standpoint all that happens when you enable clients to oversell, is there is a higher probability that the client will use up the Diskspace/Bandwidth you have allotted them. Which should not be a problem as long as you are not overselling your servers.

In that case, better off with a VPS. Can oversell all you want then.

Posted by rodrigo olivares, 05-27-2011, 03:39 PM
no in my budget, remember I said 20/month, and just the cpanel license cost like $20

Posted by HostXNow_Chris, 05-27-2011, 03:42 PM
Again, not necessarily, we have overselling feature disabled and we don't do extreme overselling. It can be tricky to work out when providers are overselling anyway, due them having a different business model, etc. True. But a VPS/Dedicated server is best for that.

Posted by HostXNow_Chris, 05-27-2011, 03:46 PM
Ok, well, good luck getting what you are after. So we know you want at least 100 GB of bandwidth? But what about diskspace? I think you are also after a lot of diskspace too. A lot of diskspace + 100GB of bandwidth on Reseller account all for just$20/month may result in poor server performance/uptime, etc.

Posted by trustedurl.com, 05-27-2011, 03:46 PM
The only thing I see missing is how much disk space and bandwidth you actually use? There's a ton of resellers that allow you to oversell (ie. only charge you based on your actual usage). Btw, the cPanel VPS licenses are generally a bit cheaper than standard internal cPanel licenses for dedicated (which are ~ 20-25).

Posted by rodrigo olivares, 05-27-2011, 03:54 PM
Actually I need so much less, I need like 20 Gb of disk space / 50 GB or other combination, I really don't care much about that now, I have just 36 clients and almost all of them use wordpress or other simple sites, my main priority is performance right now. I want to keep my clients happy.

Posted by HostXNow_Chris, 05-27-2011, 04:01 PM
20/50GB is not bad. Still, 36 clients and all of them use WordPress? WordPress can be a right resource hog, especially 36 installations on Reseller account. It may not be worth hosting say 36 resource hungry installs of WordPress for a low amount of $20/month. Just giving truth. If you want your clients to be happy you may want to consider a better service like managed VPS/Cloud VPS. Tricky one... really just comes down to your budget. "You get what you pay for" and "if it's too good to be true, it probably is" an all that. Good luck anyway.

Posted by rodrigo olivares, 05-27-2011, 04:07 PM
ok, some of they use wordpress, but with VER LOW VISITS, but I want to keep the 2 or 3 clients that are more committed with their sites. and noticed that it could be even less requierements, like 15/40 or 10/30, my priority is stability!!!!

Fernando, what about your company? can you give me the service I need?

No one can deal with you right here because of forum rules and no one can via PM. Just look at offers section and go with any of them.

Posted by rodrigo olivares, 05-27-2011, 10:19 PM
ok, no problem.
